I’m guessing the AI are the actual sides? there should be a way to quit being a mercenary and pick a side for all eternity~ (while stealing upgrade kits for mk.3 from the other factions) :P
That’s exactly the point judging why this game required so many grindings. They should make ship unlocking system based only on one the player’s side of conflict which then making players only need to grind one faction (or whatever) rank to unlock all playable ships (at least through T3, please).

Nothing stop you to grind only one faction ships. Your main problem is that you won’t have access to blue upgrades from the other factions.
