A skilled inty captain still dies in a hit or 2 from a Jericho torp. Probably 1 hit. So, if anyone brings one, and the enemy captain is an inty, you can declare gg right then.
IF they get hit. It’s very easy to avoid Jericho torp as an inty captain, and I always choose inty as cap. I actually prefer to run the Rank 1 fed implant; if you know how to fly inty and use terrain in T2 (randomizing your rotations and using smaller cover instead of large ones), the only threat is the occasional explosive damage from a suicide module. Combined with the fact that inty takes reduced damage from explosives, I personally believe inty is the best choice for cap and I have a vendetta against teammates that decide frigate captain in T2 is a good idea (I might be willing to forgive guard frigs with experimental personal heals).
