My system (PC) specs:
Intel Celeron 2x2,3 GHz
16GB RAM
GeForce GT 730, 1GB GDDR5 (15W)
Ubuntu 16.04 LTS 64bit
This is what I did.
* I purged steam:i386 client
sudo aptitude purge steam:i386
* I deleted the folders
~/.local/share/Steam
~/.local/share/steam
~/.steam
* reinstalled steam:i386 client
username@host-name:~$ sudo aptitude install steam:i386

after install of Star Conflict has been finished do not click > Play!!! Let steam window run in background, but do not touch anything at this point.

You will get the intro, since the game has not loaded your user profile and custom settings.
To get your custom setting back, do in game:
Main > Options > Account > Server:Synchronize
Now you will get your custom key-bindings etc.pp. back!
