New PvP mode: All vs. All, AvA

Yeah but that “Everyone is against you” is a No-Go in an All vs All gamemode, you know.

The best part is that I can deal with all vs. me because Me > All :stuck_out_tongue:

Basically, aside from pilot skill, you win if you have the DPS roles, and that’s it.

Too restricting, not really fun sounding.

Well then introduce beacons and you get points for staying around them same mechanics as normal beacons except only the pilot gets points. Also get points for kills. Maybe have to introduce something for supportive roles as engies may still suck at killing or capturing :slight_smile:

I’ve been thinking of something similar too. Something like fighting for heal trophies placed on the map, or having check points and if one misses it then that would make the ship explode, or an inverter would pop from time to time to make pilots work together for a short time, or something like these. Then I thought it would not be necessary if pilots would take various ships.

 To be honest I am not sure how it would turn out either. Partly that is why I posted it to see what you guys think. But I don’t think it would narrow down  game play and tactics only to a few ship roles. Random number of players would spawn at random spots. That should be enough to make it unpredictable. But to be fair with newly joined players certain damage bonus implants should be disabled.

But luckily not everyone is as good with LRFs as you. Plus, since more than one player would be on the map, I think it would be possible to take out decent LRF players too even if it is you. Especially when they know you. :slight_smile:

Since everything is at OS, why dont make some maps to have checkpoint buildings that allows you to respawn there after you activate them? That would make some maps perfect for free for all/squads/wings/corps/bots wars to last untill players get bored. Price for respawning should be similar than PVP in credits. I would love seing a bunch of T5 vs plenty of lower tier ships xD

we need some sort of icon at the map and/or a call out for players in hangar/OS that theres a battle going on at certain map (lets say more than 2 players in battle will display a small icon, more than 5 will display a bigger, and more than 10 will display an even bigger one)

I don’t think this notifying system would ever happen. When we asked for a little help in queuing for pvp with squads by showing the number of squads already in queue that never happened either. Although, now it is clear why. Devs had another plan about playing in groups.

I don’t really think that random people would go so far and work together in a all vs all mode if the threat is not game breaking. Also, what I fear is organized people queing up at once (one corp) and for example 3 of them get in the same game, it would end up 3vs1vs1vs1vs1vs1… To prevent that, the names should be hidden. Although this would not prevent such situations entirely because they can identify themselves with ships and actions. Unlegit teamwork in such a gamemode would be a big problem, but also make it more interesting… Idk if it’s a pro or a con.

Ruling out players from the same corp wouldn’t be a big problem. I think something similar already exists with crop vs corp wings. Players from the same corp simply shouldn’t be allowed to go in the same battle.

I have to admit we players are a big pain in the b… The more I think about this mode and how it could work the more things come up about how it could be abused and how the best effort to provide some fun could be screwed every possible way.

I’ve been thinking of the hidden identity and I am liking this idea more and more. It would require some extra skill and experience from pilots to identify their enemies. Unique paints and logos would really have their use here.

Only after the battle ends should identities be revealed. 

 

Better yet: make an ID scan jammer module. Tho this wouldn’t solve the problem with corp members in the same battle cuz why would they hide from each other but it sounds good and could be useful in OS. XD

OS in unprotected zones is AvA already. Or at least it could be. But a high number of players can not or does’t want to do OS. What I am thinking about is to improve PvP mode in most ranks. Some variety would be nice there. I don’t even remember when was the last time PvP got a new mode.

The only reasons i think people dont do “PVP” at OS is because you have to spend duplicators and have luck finding a battle…which wont be massive (less than 4 players). Make respawn way cheaper and a call out for ongoing battles and OS will have plenty more PVP.

That is true. Most people don’t want to lose duplicators. Also, in OS there are no enough players at once to make fighting each other fun. Not to mention that if there was some battle going on it would mostly be because some players decided to make a group, camp a sector and kill solo players. There have been a few wing battles in OS but it took too much effort to organise them and game mechanics made it a pain too. Maybe with OS reworked something like this will be possible. As I see new corporate buildings will be accessible in the occupied sectors so, maybe, these buildings could serve as direct spawn points for such battles.

 

Still. Another reason why I want to see this mode in PvP is to bring back the killing frenzy feeling similar to that we had when the new spawn system, with it letting players in battle continuously, was launched. More players were in battle at once and planning ahead was pretty much impossible so it was all improvisation. Even though I like to see what ships others have and choose accordingly beforehand, this chaos mode had its own beauty too.

All i know is that you cant simply add it to current PVP queue. Mode sounds fun, but needs a way to be implemented correctly.
