I am pretty sure you cant fly faster then your max speed:)
They probably mean your speed without afterburner.
Max speed is speed w/o AB.
Afterburner is something that allow you to fly faster than main engine can provide…

maximum speed includes afterburner since there is no ship achieveing 700 speed on “speed” but they can on “afterburner” description of ship, not modules.

and max speed is basic speed…
Let’s say that your max speed is 15km/h but when you get hit by some car you can move with 60km/h or more…
In space that car that in theory would hit you = AB
This DOES NOT need a fix. It’s working as intended.
Maximum speed is the speed you can reach pressing W.
If your ship’s speed is 250, you will need 275 speed to activate the Adaptative Shield. A ship with 250 speed will reach 300 speed with afterburners.
Edit: Also MrDuck you can keep making shame of yourself if you want, but I will end up locking the thread since this is not a bug and OP has been answered.

That’s not his maximum speed, but the cap speed.
A Zealot’s maximum speed is not 700, you will never reach such speed. Maximum speed is the top speed you can reach pressing W without any external help like active modules or afterburning.
I can’t tell if you’re trolling or you’re just stupid, but since as a troll you’re terrible, I’ll go for the second option.
