Someone has the same problems?
And that is why I like dogs
Reminds me of my own cat - passed away a few months ago :ā(
But not when working at the computer, we didnt allow her in the house. It was usually when i went outside to read for exams.

Although I donāt want to start a hate discussion, I am interested in your opinions:
Why are dogs not allowed to go outside freely yet cats are?Ā
Ā
In my opinion cats should not be allowed outside freely just like dogs and any other animal. Both are able to do harm to others. And personally am getting sick of cat xxxx everywhere in our backyard and alleys.Ā
Well, it depends on where you live Funky. And iām not sure i really understand your question. Is it related to the law, vet recommendations or what exactly?
I live at a house with garden, orchard and quite a big yard, among other properties of the kind, some small town / village. We kept the cat AND the dog outside on the property and didnāt allow them inside the house - neither of them (the cat usually got inside every now and then. But for that, the dog is a wolf type (german whatever sheep herder or something) and we keep him in a separate yard for himself, with possibilities to release him into the orchard or main yard. They are all fenced, strangers must seek permission before entering. They cannot harm people outside and are trained so (more like they self-understand this concept actually of where the property limit is and what they are allowed to do or not). The cat⦠well, people learnt to keep chicken and other animals they might hunt closed safely until they reach a certain age. People are used here with them. She hunted for birds and stuff, but kept withing the fences.
As far as i understand from your post, you live in an area with no fenced properties? Dogs can run off the property and bite someone (2 months ago a child got killed in Bucharest by dogs - started an entire revolution). So thatās the dog reason. I personally perceive dogs to be far more dangerous than cats. Cats usually scare off if not on their property, they donāt freely attack unless they see no alternative.
Also question: what do you mean by cat xxxx in the backyard? I thought cats bury their stuff (at least they search for sand here on their own and do the job there while dogs lay a dump wherever they feel like).

Mostly about rules/laws yeah.
I live in an urban area, so cats will just climb on fences and walk in everyones yard, and xxxx where-ever they like. And the owners generally donāt care about it.
Dogs will only react violently if mistreated or they feel endangered.(Just like any animal)
Ā
And the fact that here in the netherlands we have to pay a fine if caught letting our dog xxxx on the grass and not cleaning it up, but cats can do it freely in our yards⦠And last time I checked stepping in dog or cat xxxx is exactly the same.(Not to mention you pay taxes for dogs but not for cats)
Ā
In my opinion dogs are just as dangerous as cats. and both will react violently if that is their only way for them to react in such situations(Fight or flight reaction)
Ā
Sorry for de-railing the thread!Ā
But i often hear about cats doing that sort of stuff in every game, especially the laying on the keyboard haha
in vienna, cats live usually inside the houses and look out of windows. dogs however make me rant more, because people seem to forget their stupidity and let them run around (āit is a nice dog, it wonāt biteā) and poo all over the place.
Ā
u donāt see any cat on the street roaming freely, however also no dog, because they both get caught by authorities if they do.
Ā
i was raised in hungary tho, where you could occasionally find wild dogs and very frequently find wild cats on the streets.
wild cats donāt attack humans, while wild dogs do, which is why wild dogs usually get caught.
Ā
also, the feeling if you come home from school, and there is only one unattended dog roaming the streets is pretty different, than if you just see a cat.
Ā
a dog is fine, as long as it is attended. i do not say all dogs are stupid, my father does own shiba inus, but they need peers, while cats can live fine in solitary. actually cats retain more of their wildlife personality, while dogs can get way closer to us humans, because they need the relationship. the cat only needs you to give it food.
Ā
i like both animals, but i donāt like them in cities unattended. itās the first time i read, somebody says, cats poo so much on the streets, because a cat can live inhouse, a dog must be taken outside however for patrols, it needs the exercise; so in a dense city, where people donāt have gardens, dog poo is way more of a problem. a cat is fine if it can jump around in your room however, and can be perfectly held indoor all its life.
Ā
adding however, obviously the sad cat or sad dog diary:
