I would love to have the ability to load up 2 different main weapons on one ship… I.e.: on a Frigate, have 2 mortars and 4 beam cannons… something like that.
heh HwyBlaster+CoilMortairs+Beams+Positrons on a same ship, imagine all the aiming reticles over the enemy target, different mechanics (charging, continuous shooting and alternate barrels)

This is currently not planned because it would make it very hard to aim.
sems nice idea but it will let you use all 3
damage kinds em kinetich and thermal you shuld use one to make it balanced there are reasons they dont do it. and having only one gun type gives more logic to the game man
This idea will only work on ships that have 4 or 6 turrets. Ships with 2 turrets are to weak for this idea to be of any use.
Nevertheless here is my idea.
Version #1
Craftable Multipurpose Module - Turret Transformer
Enables you to switch all turrets into the designated turret selected in the hangar. Use it again to switch back(if you have enough time).
Using it takes all of your energy away no matter what volume the energy pool is. It will be able to regenerate back.
Long cool down. Using it takes 3 minutes and 30 seconds.
Version #2
Craftable Multipurpose Module - Power Redirector
Your ship starts with half of your turrets able to shoot. Activating this module redirects power from the previous turrets and to the next set of turrets.
Total amount of energy pool needed for activation. Energy is drained over a period of 4 seconds or less depending if energy is being used for something else such as afterburning. During that time the turrets that are on receive a 40% damage boost.
Cooldown is 2 minutes.

Maybe just multiple weapons of the same kind… i.e.: 2 thermals.
certainly not a diff one for each slot though… Every ship seems to be asymetrical, perhaps in pairs then.
