Moving the Goalposts, Chapter IV

I don’t really have much of a problem with a design change (well, actually I do, but that’s another story), but what you are doing amounts to telling someone who has been a lumberjack all his life that you replaced his axe with a rake , and then basically telling them “Deal with it”.

Honestly, I don’t know what to fly anymore. Most if not all of the ships I bought no longer let me do what I bought them for.

To get the ships I am interested in -now-, I would have to grind in excess of 100 million credits.

Why weren’t all ships stripped and “sold”, so people could re-buy the ships that actually fit the playstyle they like?

I have to say I am pretty disappointed and don’t really feel the urge to play a lot anymore.

Every patch the goalposts get moved so far away, I can no longer keep up chasing after them.

Then stop playing and come back after release, then the changes wont be so drastic.

Lol. you realise games like this stay “open beta” for about as long as they can stretch it right? It’s becoming more and more an excuse to make sweeping changes without accountability, they can just slap you on the wrist for even daring to question changes while pointing at the “open beta” sign.

Some games have been “open beta” for a year or longer.

Amen.

I can no longer fly any of the ships that I previously liked as they are utter xxxx and completely different from what I used to fly.

Only ship I have left that is still remotely decent and usable is Desert Eagle.

But ohwait, I had it fully fitted in blues before patch and now I can’t even afford to fit it properly, bullshit.

get the new modules on that eagle (the invincibility and the speed boost) and you’ll see it’s become a much stronger ship than it was before

If I had the money for it, got 3 mil from the patch and it wasn’t even enough to fit out my Deagle with new mods, let alone any other ships I might have because I can barely use any of the mods I got in my warehouse now because of stupid limiting roles.

This is the primary reason I support total wipes after major patches. some people don’t understand that some changes aren’t meant for the game as is, but how the game will be. these changes make sense for new, starting players. not really for vets.

changes make sense

No they don’t, lol.

Just look what it says at the bottom of this page:

http://star-conflict.com/en/game/gamedevelopmentplan/

"Who knows, maybe your idea will be the next point in the development of the game?"

Game looks more like a phishing tool to get free marketing ideas out of gamers amongst other things. Ulterior motives such as this generally become the main drive for moving goal posts in such a way.

No beta testing that I’m aware of involves actually extracting capital from a tester. They are allowed to offer a pre purchase for official released content, but micro transactions during beta stages just screams of “scam”.

No they don’t, lol.

Did you read what onisake said? He said they made sense for a new player (which they do, they’re new and they have no idea how the game works so this is effectively their starting point). You’ve taken what he said out of context and sat there and made it look like he isn’t putting any sort of helpful input into this discussion, which he is.

And if micro purchases in a beta scream of scam then maybe people shouldn’t buy them…?

Now I understand what people are saying. I was quite pissed myself when I saw my interceptor had changed from a fast moving beacon capturing fly that admittedly didn’t really kill anything but did get the objectives. To something that not only was no longer available (had moved up a tier) but left me with a slower decidedly useless thing that I really didn’t see a use for. After looking at its modules and understanding (key word there: understanding) what its meant to do you realise that even after a few games of getting used to what it’s meant to play like, the game on the whole is better. Yes they should refund those that invested in the game properly, frankly it’s appalling that they haven’t and until they do people have every right to boycott the game and get annoyed. But if you delve under the upset, the actual game has changed for the better. It just takes a bit of time and open-mindedness to see it.

Maybe because they were unaware that they were purchasing DLC for a beta until AFTER they installed it. It’s most certainly not obvious from the steam store page and will be filing a complaint for possible fraud.

Selling DLC for a beta undermines the quality of other steam DLC and I’m sure steam would have something to say about it.

My rank 9 ship became a rank 10 ship. The premium modules I had equipped all, became T4 modules, unfortunately not all the modules can be used with the ships new role. I have no other T4 ships to put them on and lack the reputation to get any.

A rank 8 ship I had became a rank 9 ship. It got a new roll but the T3 premium modules I had would have worked.

Long story short, I have no ship with a complete fit and lots of modules I bought with gold now gather dust while I grind rep. And I don’t even want to fly T4.

I would have preferred a refund of everything (including reputation somehow) to gs&credits, allowing me to buy into the new faction/role that suites my play style. The play style I have spend many hours to find.

Also, why the **** does this forum strip out new lines?
