So I was thinking about some very low-dev-intensive ways that they could implement gaining xenocrystals. I would really hate to have xenocrystals become another “you may or may not find any while scavenging in open space” resource. Open space is a terrible place to gather resources because it’s so damn time-consuming, mainly because of useless credit drops from -everything- and no stacking items.
One way would be like I suggested a while ago, where there is a place or tab or something like the corporation dreadnought tab that shows a little “gardening” thing where you can plant and grow xenocrystals over time.
Another is like a sort of “mining game” on the Ellydium base in Leviathan. You could buy different quality drills depending on your skill and endurance, and drill deeper and deeper in to Bion in order to get large amounts of xenocrystals. Better drills are more expensive to rent, but they also mean a better yield of crystals per session.
You should plant some w**d in your backyard. It will be the worst case scenario, like with any other resource, actually, it will be worse, because drops are random now and no longer specific by rank, at least when it comes to “I want to get this” option.

If you permit me, even if not. I’ll add ideas to yours, which i find acceptable. That growing idea though…lol. Mining mini-game sound like a cool feature.
Add a fleet assignement mission to get xeno xtals. Most have more than enought ships to setup 2 fleet and still have fun with his other ships. Another thing that could be done is daily missions from ellydium either give mono and xtals or just xtals. Or add a new daily “green exclamation mark” mission on top of the daily fleet. Sending afleet for xtals would required better, higher rank or maxed ships compared to the usual one. Or just keep the requirement % equal to regular fleet assignement. I am not sure my idea are
First: You CAN’T mine crystals. They will scatter and be destroyed this way. You need to carefully excavate them to find those.
The best way is to grow them in a lab using a basic crystal + living crystal as parent.
But this is nothing lore-wise acceptable as introduction.
There were already many suggestions(EVEN THE MINING!), and yeah: They delay and delay and don’t give any information. Just waste time to hype shiny words.

Would the gardening come with looking for it every day and power it with some laser shots or something? (Binding/increasing playerbase to SC game)
Gardening: +1 , because its an interesting idea!
Other ideas:
-I would think of a collected pool of Xenocrystals on corp or sub-corp base, so that Xenocrystal gardens could incentive for super-wings or corps to organize and gain in groups. Every memebr must bring in something for growth or garden maintenance, maybe: energy or credits.
also asteroid in sectors (open space related) owned by corps or sub-corps or super-wings that must be protected from pirates or other players. For example installable ai-controlled gun turrets, guarding players that would be noticed, if their asteroid was attacked and they then must fly in to open space to protect it…
