Matchmaking taking too long

Hello, I’ve been playing Star Conflict with my clan for a couple days now and I’m really impressed with the concept, however, the matchmaking is killing it for us.

We haven’t been able to get into a pvp match at all since we all started playing because it seems to us that sitting staring at a timer for 10 minutes or more is absurd.

Is there something I’ve overlooked? Some way to fix this?

We’re at more than 10 minutes right now.

Update:

Queuing individually we were able to get into a match in less than 2 minutes. This is some kind of issue with group matchmaking I suppose.

Hello,

the matchmaking is searching for a squad with an equal size and strength. Since you are flying T1 there are not many people that are flying in a squad when they start. I recommend to fly with 2 man squads in T1 and start grouping up in higher Tiers.

Thank you, we will do groups of two and see how that works for us

I see you are mixing t2 with t1. In pvp thats not good for you. Pve it is.

You should play pvp with all same tier ships, otherwise you will get an unfair match.
rank 1-3 is tier 1 and 4-6 is tier 2.

Also if you have not got a match after 5 minutes you should cancel que and try again. It seems to be a long standing issue with matchmaking.

T1 and t2 should que under 3 minutes most of the time. But squads messes up mm in low teirs.

Can you clarify something about matchmaking system for me and others?

In a scenario of 3 players mixing T1 and T2 with an average time of 44sec and maximum specified time of 5min, the system determines you have to wait until your beard grows fancy as Gandalf’s instead putting your team in a T2 match counting with the advantage of teamplay and the handicap of T1 ships?

If you play SOLO you don’t have to wait too much, but if you have friends you are doomed to eternal waiting time. Yesterday night I cancelled a matchmaking of 2 players after 17min of wait time. Next step, go to bed. Star Conflict doesn’t have enough players yet to use this kind of hard restrictions. Even using bots it’s hard to play a match with friends after 22pm. This is crazy. Obviously the system looks for the equality and the fair play but I prefer to play with a bit disadvantage than don’t play. And of course, if I have 2 friends to play with, I see no point on split the group and play all 3 SOLO because this system forces us to be a lonewolf.

In this case, the top ship is the one who gives the queue, so you will be placed in T2 queue. You just were unlucky and didn’t find any 3 or 4 men squad to fight agains. Yes, it is a problem, but otherwise, people complained A LOT about people in squads ravaging randoms, so they coded the MM this way. At least in a 3 men squad you need to face another 3 or 4 men squad, instead of just a 3 men.

not every squad plays with voice tool or really plays together. Even with one 4-man squad on each side, it can happen that one side just gets crushed.

I liked the System before the mm Change more. You could at least get faster into a match with squad but if you had bad luck: Helllloooo Kill squad.

Maybe force a match after waiting 5 minutes, even if that means your put one Tier higher to balance things out? A four man squad of t1 should be able to hold their ground with random t2’s and so forth.

That was already tested, and people complained about being forced to play vs high tiers when in squad. Most people in kill squads begun using premiums due to preferred mm. And at the end, kill squads were still in tier 3 and random squads faced tier 4 ships.

So they locked tiers again.

When we did have mixed tiers (squads of 3+ were pushed up by 1-2 ranks) there were the most balanced game in longest time, majority of games were close games, it is not that we started to lose more games as a squads, but outcome of the match was very close, most of the time, where in simply locked tier games for the most part one sided.

Not really, kill squads just used tier 3 premiums to stay out of tier 4. The only difference was that squads couldn’t use styxes.
