Hello Guys.
I have a hard time figuring out the Mass Shield Generator on my Frigate.
Does it give a bonus to ships near me at all times, or do i have to activate it for it to work, or does it have both passive and active effects? It seems the item-tooltip is not enough for dummies like me
If anyone could clarify it would be great!
regards
Confidenze
You have to activate it. It’s kinda like the tackler’s target painter - you press the key once to activate, and again to deactivate. ECMs deactivate them for you, as well, but that’s a different kind of situation.

Same deal with nanodrone cloud, and energy emitter (although you probably can’t use that one just yet).
But it says this in the Wiki:
Â
Nanodrone Cloud and Mass Shield Generator
The Nanodrone Cloud and Mass Shield Generator passively restore hull and shield respectively to ships around the engineer , including itself. Nanodrone clouds and mass shield generators do not stack from multiple engineering frigates.
Â
Does “passively” mean after I actively pressed the button?
Could you give an example? (I feel rather dumb at this point)
when clicked its active and will heal you and everyone around you in a “-----” radius. the module will blink when its active.Â
Okay - not my idea of passive, but I understand it. TY

Well, the wiki is quite incomplete, not used an awful lot and doesn’t update that often. It’s typically much better to ask in game chat or the forums, as you did here.
Â
Although now that I see how awful the wiki is, I think I’ll actually try to contribute…
I will go through the wiki sections for the mods and try to update them. If you find anything that is also out of date or incorrect, feel free to contact me.
Twiddlez why don’t you just use google chrome on the RU wiki. Then translate then copy paste it. After that all you got to do is fix grammar and word mistakes due to translation.
For example they use the word housing instead of hull.

Where is the fun in doing that, eh?
So this is why I’ve been seeing an increase number of repair-field spamming Engies. Goodness, but that aura noise is irritating after awhile.

Maybe there should be a tutorial about these modules?
There should be tutorials for all sorts of things. They should be in the help portion of the game. Tutorials like the buff/debuff bar, how targeting works, how to target without shooting, how specific ship roles work, how their modules work and so on. I teach a lot of new players the basics and some have problems with these concepts. I suppose if they had no one to teach them they’d be totally lost and quit the game before they found out how fun it is.
Of course tutorials shouldn’t be bombarded on them at all times. They should come up as the need arises and always be there whenever players need them.
Back in the day, the game had no tutorials at all. In my time you went to T1 and won a battle uphill, both ways!
Once you launch, press the module ONCE and then leave it. It will do the rest for you. There’s no need to pulse it off-and-on.
