Yeah, engi has been serving me well lately. I don’t normally use it but decided as of late and in t3 is awesome, t5 is kind of meh…
The phoenix does indeed seem powerful, I think it’s one of the best ships in t3, those phoenix drones are broken lol. If I could get those on the valor… but I digress. It takes a ridiculous amount of time it takes to unlock the phoenix. I still don’t have one myself.
Something I did think of though that could slightly encourage the playing of supports, is a trend I’ve seen in overwatch. Similar to star conflict, in overwatch, there is an opportunity after the game to commend players, and if there are no significant players to vote for, then, whether or not they were a good healer, the healer gets the upvotes. Why don’t we do the same here? Instead of throwing our commendations to that thar’ga at the top of the list, or the guy we’re in a squad with, let’s give them to the healers. and if there are no healers on your team? heck give em to the enemy healer.

I got my Phoenix with a DLC from steam shop - when it was on 50% discount (it had a license also) And yeah, to unlock it, is grrrindy. In addition, to unlock the drones is grindy, too. Now that I have mine, I’d love to have them for all t3 engineer frigates!!

What I see is an incredible gap between eff. points in players. From 100 to 300 to 3600, with the hundreds (100-600) in the middle field. I do not know until today how exactly to calculate to get most effective?
It is kill centred and beacon capture centred, though! Healers do not get much points for help.
Phoenix motors up the scoreboard because of Phoenix Drones. Just set them to attack and laugh as interceptors explode all around you like fireworks. Combined with attack drones and your main gun you can pour an ungodly amount of fire into a single target - the Phoenix is the only ship where I’ve achieved the 6 kills in 15 seconds medal, in no small part because of dronespam.
Its other boon, of course, is how quickly you can recover. Drop a remote shield repair, activate both auras and switch the drones to healing mode and you will be back to full hull and shield before your last victim has time to respawn!
The only downside from a team perspective is that the Phoenix isn’t great at actually being a healer. They’re the slowest Engineer in T3, and they can’t tank damage like a Styx can. They’re also very, very vulnerable once those drones are popped, and Destroyers are amazingly good at doing that.
So if you just want raw efficiency, jump in a Phoenix. But that’s not necessarily the best choice if you actually want to do your job as a medic.

The r8 empire premium ship Phoenix (192/aft231m per sec) is a bit faster that the r9 empire Styx (178/aft213 m per sec) but not comparable with the r8 federation Anaconda (265/aft318 mps) nor the r8 federation premium ship Valor (265/aft318 mps).
I looked up the Styx and saw, that it has the 2nd choice Styx drones, like the Phoenix drones, also. The special Drones can be accquired by “Special updates (daily)” missions from A. Gage (‘Fleet assignments’) - thats cool. I would love to have these drones on any of my Federation engineer frigates, also. I am a big support of our sides destroyers and every other slower support ship like federation engineer or guard frigate - some times also to faster fighters or interceptors that I would meet behind rocks or at the beacon (fly there with my warp gate). So its a great healer and is effective against destroyers, also.
The Phoenix not a great healer? I disagree. I equip it with 1 ally shield-healing aura, 1 ally hull-repair aura module, one of its special active modules ‘shield sync’ and 1 Warp Gate module for flexibility in movement (jumping through also heals some shield).
And to have at least an anti-interceptor option is that great it takes the laugh from the interceptors side to the Phoenix side, in federation engineer frigates one has no chance against interceptors the kill you ij no time!!! " and laugh as interceptors explode all around you like fireworks." - I do not agree, they get defeated at times by Phoenix drones but not as a guaratee, and “all around” is not true! Sometimes they act like finish-up weaponry for over-confident pescy inmterceptors!! Thats what I like the most!!
from my perspective phoenix is kinda good at repulsing inties like pulsar, with the addition to attack drones and main weapons your final dps can be way higher than you actually think, but at healing it sucs. Egnies are useless unless it is a brokk. Hull and shield boosters are way more effective.

With the buffs in regard to Thar’ga’s firepower and regeneration: as of introduction of the Ellydium Tharga we need a substantial buff in engineer frigates … ehem as well as in every other ship…
leave engineers as they are, make more promo videos on engies, maybe xIMaXIx can help, promote the class, but don’t buff anything, there is already too much regeneration, and ships have a good survivability if the strafe and rotate.
Yes - in general I agree with you, most ships are – in relation to each otrher – more or less well balanced. I only find the interceptor class too powerful and with the destroyers and the more buffed Ellydium ship class, it seems that there should be buff to all ships - else the old ships will be obsolyte in the future!
Spoiler
*Cough*… What did you say about Brokk?.. *Cough* *Cough*
