seems very rough at its current state, but even so, really amazing. More advanced versions would definately rock hard…cant wait to see improvements into this
finally, they put their atom voxel point cloud whatever mythic rasterizer rendering engine into some action.
still, asking myself what the difference will be to VR, except a lighter headset…
and i would have to keep my urge down to run out into the safari, straight into the wall…

hahahaha. First difference i see is that in VR you cant see your (real) body, in the hologram thing you see it…although you also see the controler stick and the tool missaligned (from what you can see in the videos). hologram also seems to be more healthy for your eyes (since you arent focusing objects that close for prolonged time). Perhaps with better tech you wont notice the edge of the walls and have a full room just to interact with if you could use a mobile floor that follows your movement (to prevent from reaching the border of the room) you could go anywhere without restrictions
Having tired muscles around the retina after prolongued fixation of a point is maybe not very pleasant, but I fail to see “health problems” with it. Also, you get that from screens aswell… ”)
But maybe not seeing your body is a big part, true. Difference is still, I can use a VR sitting in a chair to play flying or driving games, without loss of fidelity. I look forward to that.
Altough the holo room would be awesome for sword fighting games.

Well i did not care about eye health when looking at a screen for more than 10 years without any apparent impact, but this year i had to start using lens and even so i quickly started seing blurry after 20-30 mins in front of a screen. Now i have to use lens permanently or i will be seing things blurry, same for not taking small breaks 3 times per hour aprox. So i do care about eye health now xD

Indeed
yeah I get that. The word health just made me think, you fear this will make your eyes broken I often hear those urban legends where people think they need glasses because they watched too much TV - but whether you need optical correction or not is really hard to influence, the eye just grows how it grows. But that was my misunderstanding.
Maybe I think of it more as a fitness or wellness thing, because it has to do with muscles.
I learned to look away sometimes from the monitor and focus distant things in my early twens I think, I had lots of problems back then, and almost feared I can’t continue on the path of my desired profession; right mouse usage to avoid tenosynovitis, better sitting to avoid backpains, stuff like that added to it.
Actually avoiding bad pasture is indeed a health concern, so maybe the lines are blurred between health and fitness and how I categorize them in my brain. ”)
And I could not say for sure either, if constant abuse of the eye muscles would do some permadamage anyway…
Also, I hope you will adapt to the lenses over time, I can remember how annoying it was to keep looking away on purpose. I am glad now it works automagic.
Maybe you consider health as being sick (when you think about health, you include the possibility of being sick, since health/sickness is a dichotomy) and fitness as prevention from being sick?
From what ive searched and what my ophthalmologist has told me, yeah, you can get permanent dmg when prolonging bad practices for too long. Muscles get tired and need to rest and elongate, if you keep pushing them they will start to get damaged…
hahaha getting used to these “healthy practices” is sooo lame, definately something you have to train (your will).
btw, have you heard of the 20/20/20 rule? (each 20 minutes look 20 feet away for 20 seconds)
