Well I have tested it, playing with tier 1 will get you in tier 2. Still win the game and got 2000 more eff than the second in the team. Playing with tier 2 will get you in tier 3. This is tricky, but still good setup and ships will get you top in eff everytime. Tier 3 vs tier 4, once again, good setup and ships will get you on top in eff.
The problem is that tier4 will get you into tier 4 games, and they are usually half tier 3 and half tier 4, which is a bit of an exploit.
I think people with good elo should be in tier 5 games even with tier 4 ships. That will make it balance (even if some people will cry because they won’t be able to farm tier 4 anymore)
Problem is the mixed tier system isn’t working for new players. As I said earlier I have been in several matches where a poor newbie T2 pilot was dumped in with the R9 ships.
Also pitting your T3 ships against fully pimped T4 ships is just punishment. I’ve invested a lot in T3 premiums and I want to fly them in a fair game not get rofl stomped when 1 team is full of T3 and the other T4. If this new MM is to work then the Vets of T4 shouldn’t be getting easy games fighting T3s.

you’re missing the point (as I did at first): it could’ve not be a poor newbie if he was dumped in T3 with his T2 ship, the system only moves people with a too high ELO for the tier they are queueing into the next tier. It’s simple: the devs want that people play in the tiers that are supposed for their experience (ELO) and not in lower tiers than they could. Because the latter is very newbie unfriendly and, as harsh as it may sound, from a developer point of view it’s the newbs who bring new money, not the vets. So people playing the game under-tier are ruining the game for newbs, the devs and in the end for everyone because SC will die due to lack of new players.
The problem is that new T3 etc pilots tend to get high kills and high wins because the bots suck and the people who don’t get high kills and high wins are still grinding in T2 because of less synergy. So matchmaker thinks they must be good and they get chucked into games full of 50%+ upgraded ships vs the <50% of T2, and probably a very high kills/wins pilot will get chucked onto a xxxx team to “balance it” because they must be so good due to high kills and high wins.
this indeed is a problem the devs should attend to. Instead of focusing only on ELO they should the number of fights take into account too. But then maybe they do, afaik no one knows exactly when MM decided to move a pilot to a higher tier.

I wouldn’t cry because i don’t can fly T4 anyomre i would cry because i don’t have enough good equipment(atm for 2ships) in T5(and this is kinda annoing to have after ~643h pvp and ~400h pve not enough ressources(without premium license) to have good equipmet for every tier)
