Lololo No PvP games in lovely Star Conflict

So what is the issue here?

MIXED MM?

Or, maybe

Prems having -1 to MMpower?

Get to the root of the issue 1st than complain. You start complaining about prems having lower mm weight, i’ll be the first to back you up.

Tbh both.

Mixed MM with +/- 1 rank - I wouldn’t care.

Mixed MM with more that’s the problem in T1-4. No matter if that’s R7vR9 or R9vR11

R11 have 2 passives more, nice +20% to active modules efficiency and R11 implant also better weapons which can be upgraded to mk5(ALL of them)

Now you actually have to make an effort to win the game, to leave your comfort zone of pedobearing in T3, and you cry.

I played T5 for over a year and in my experience T3 in harder to carry than T5. Kills are similar but no R13 and some other implants make T3 not so forgiving.

All in all they just need to tweak the MM to make it work, fully pimped R12s vs fully pimped R9s is a bit ridiculous as is one team of T3s vs a team of T4s. I had fun fighting T4s in my T3s, just make it fair.

Stop writting a foolish statements like this.

I fly them for more extra free synergy. That’s it!

Oh, and no repair and resupply costs!

Then go play tier 1 ships (in tier 2 that is), it is the most unforgiving tier of all. No implants, no modules, no resistences, nothing. Just pure skill. The pinacle of PvP.

Go there dude, they are waiting for you!!

1st I had to endure the beating while I pushed to T5
2nd I get players in T4 wishing to conscientiously put down their ELO … imagine how nice it is to play in those teams

Nah.

I won’t invest in any Mark 5’s.

This new MM isn’t working. Had a few matches tonight where some poor soul in his T2 was facing fully pimped T3s. This one guy only had 82 battles under his belt so was clearly new to all this. Also, facing fully pimped T4s is no fun at all when flying T3s, especially when it’s 4v4 and one side is T3 and the other T4. This needs some serious work. In larger matches it is not so bad and can be fun, small matches are just a joke.

The issue here is very straightforward; players like the tier locked setup because it rewards their hard work… up to a point. The current “mixed tier” model punishes players constantly, until they get maxed out T5 gear or if they naturally cap out, skill wise, in an equal tier situation.

The problem is easily fixed, but it has to be fixed with monetisation. And therein lies the problem; there has never been any interest in actually listening to players when they say “I want to spend money on this game.”

The reason T3 became a bottleneck is obvious. It doesn’t require too much grind to get to Rank 9; it doesn’t require too much grind to get Mk III / IV gear; it has the widest range of F2P ships; it has the widest range of P2P ships; it has the most DLC; and the prices for Premiums are not extortionate.

In short, T3 is where we as players are pushed to spend our money, and where we’re likely to do so because the prices seem fair.

So when people are asked, or forced to leave T3, problems arise. These include, but are not limited to to the following:

  • Excessive grind in T4 / T5 makes players feel forced to use GS to advance, spoiling the play experience.
  • Having to start over with “low tier” ships with terrible gear and synergy makes players feel weak, and makes the higher tier matches feel less satisfying than the tier below.
  • Cost for premium ships goes up too quickly, making the ships feel like a poor investment.
  • Choice of premium ships are more limited, making it more difficult to find a ship players want to invest in.
  • Cost of skipping to Mk III with premiums is INSANE! It costs around £40 to equip a T4 ship with Mk III premium gear! Once again, players feel like they’re being given a bad experience, and forced to pay through the nose to avoid that bad experience.

So how do we fix this? Well, here’s a few ways:

  • Advancing ships with real money has to be a LOT cheaper, especially for veterans - equipment needs to be priced so that players feel they can drop some GS on premium weapons or modules whenever they need to without breaking the bank. It should cost no more than £10 to fully equip a ship with Mk III premium gear.
  • Premium ships should be more affordable.
  • Alternatively, offer MASSIVE discounts to premium ships if the player owns the previous ship in the chain. In other words, if you own a Strong, you shouldn’t have to pay full price for a Flamberge.
  • Existing DLC ships need to be moved up the tech tree - ships like the Desert Eagle, Dragonfly and Bear should be T4 or even T5 ships to get people out of the bottleneck, and allow them to keep flying the ships they invested in.

Alternatively, if you just want to put a band aid on the problem, you can coax vets to move with in game incentives. If a vet flies T4 and T5, give them Monocrystals as a reasonable drop rate (about the same chance as getting Iridium). Maybe even throw in incentives like “play 20 matches in a row in T4 or above and get free GS!”. Remove the repair costs from the higher tiers, or offer some other boost to earnings. Any of these might help convince people that they’re better off moving up than staying put.

Seriously I don’t understand the whining. Vets need money to advance to higher tiers, T4 is a grindfest, woot? You make so much credits and synergy in T4 - especially with premium license - that everyone who deliberately stays in T3 is facepalming himself. Yesterday I started SC around 8pm with 400k credits, I did 2-3 missions, then PvP until 1am when Crimson Haze mission was on, did it 4 times in an hour and around 2am had 8.4mill to buy my Spectre Falcon. So 8mill in 6 hours without grinding, just playing the game. Actually it’s closer to 10mill because I upgraded some stuff on my T4 too. My Eagle-M T4 was all white by the beginning of this week, now it’s all green and some even purple. All I need now is 6mills more and I can even build the Secret Ship, I have almost all materials already without even deliberately farming them, just by playing the game.

And note: I fly all by myself, no corp or squad to help me out. So what exactly is the problem with T4, why do you need real money other than maybe for the premium license? You’re not supposed to get a full T4 purple lineup within 2 days, you should feel that you’ve accomplished something when you reach that point and it really doesn’t take so long. I can just repeat myself, I really love the new update. For the past two days I almost never waited more than 30sec for a PvP match to begin and that’s just awesome, I hope they don’t reverse it and the so called “Vets” sticking to T3 move their behinds up the Tiers and actually start behaving like Vets. Top players belong in top tiers, as it is in every other MMO, period.

Well this isn’t an MMO for starters, but there is also a distinction between knowledge and execution. A veteran player can know the maps, understand timings and ship builds, but that doesn’t automatically give them piloting skills or dogfighting ability, which becomes pretty important in later tiers as the power of interceptors rises on an exponential curve. If you are lacking in execution, then the lower tiers offer you a gaming experience where execution isn’t as important, which gives you a better experience overall. So even with changes like those I suggested, there is still a valid reason for vets not to move up.

But I would also point out that in “MMO” style games, the reason to push to the end is because that is where the most content is, and where the best stuff is. For PvE, Rank 9 can be the “best” rank because PvE is split into three categories. For PvP, the “best” ships are the top end ships of each tier bracket, and in terms of raw content T3 beats them all. So is it any wonder people play where the most content is found?

@JasanQuinn

You do realize, that if you can also pay Mark 2 and Mark 4 with GS? If you would take all that into account, it wouldn’t be just £40, but probably twice as much, if not even more.

I dislike icons, which indicates, that I bought them with GS, without my own effort. All that I have, I accomplished on my own, with my own effort. 3% of extra (standard) synergy is irrelevant to me.

I agree about monetization. They never listened in the past and they refuse and will refuse to answer any and all of our questions, regarding economics in this game.

If anything, it will go from bad to worse.

Those ships, now available T3 and T4 Premium ships will either be locked in a new DLCs, which will give them a reason to increase the price from 80 EUR to 100-120 EUR, or more.

That is my assumption. Even stranger would be, that they would release a new DLCs, which is an old DLCs, but it features the same Premium ships, which we (Veterans) already own.

This remind me of the same problem in the Shop, when you have all Premium ships and then you had to buy a whole Premium bundle pack again, just to get a special emblem.

I suspect that same will happen with this upcoming DLC deal. I will have no reason to buy it, but then again, I will have some passive bonuses there and maybe some new stickers.

This is not the proper way of doing business.

However, there is another possibility. That this game isn’t getting enough income or money, so they have to resort to such radical steps.

I heard, that someone said that nobody pays for this game, so it is getting almost minimal funding and attention. I am not sure, if this is true. I do not believe it. I would really like to know, if this is true.

If this game should survive, it may be the only way, even if it means, that now monetization will become even more aggressive. Macrotransactions will now be the leading cause.

I think that they see it this way. I, of course, disagree. This will even reduce the amount of investments, instead of providing more incentive for a player to invest into this game.

Well, I will do a full review of this game soon anyway.

Update 1.2.0 is judgement day for Star Conflict for me.

With 6000 hours put in this game, I think I am credible to put a correct assessment, since it will be fair and a honest one.

If you are lacking in execution, then the lower tiers offer you a gaming experience where execution isn’t as important, which gives you a better experience overall. So even with changes like those I suggested, there is still a valid reason for vets not to move up.

How then do you expect to improve by only sticking to Tiers you can actually play in, mostly making life for newbs miserable because they don’t stand a chance? Also from my own experience, it is much harder in T3 to survive than in T4 exactly because so many “vets” are playing T3 - although to call someone a vet who sticks to T3 because he lacks the skills to play T4 is somewhat contradictive in the first place. I felt a great releave when I finally climbed to T4 and stood a chance again, exactly because I don’t need to know every hiding spot on the map or getting “tricked” into being killed and because ship build and piloting skills are more important in T4.

@Koromac: by the gods I hope you are wrong but I fear that you might’ve nailed it. When they announced that the premiums got into DLC I actually thought that they will make the DLCs cheaper so you get more for less but more players will buy them and giving more money to the devs. As I said before, the announcement alone sure payed out well, so many premiums were bought yesterday like never before. The most crucial part though - as you’ve pointed out several times IIRC - would be to put more money into advertising. This would go hand in hand with the mixed tier strategy because lets face it, new players can reach T3 quite fast and are “welcomed” there by a cruel gang of vets preying on them before said newbs can fall in love with the game enough to endure this hassle, leaving the game in the end for good. Now that the vets have little incentive to stay in T3 it can again be actually the Tier it’s supposed to be: your initiation rite where you grow up and become ready for adulthood in T4/5
