While downloading Star Conflict for the first time, my download speed has been moving between 1.2 mb/s and absolutely nothing every ten or fifteen seconds. This is not just the launcher - it affects the entire system. When it’s running at 0b/s, I am unable to connect to any website, any service, anything at all. My wireless config utility, for that matter, instructs me that the router is not connected to the internet (which is clearly false, as other computers have no problems whatsoever).
This is not related to my internet connection or drivers, because this is the only program that has this effect, and it immediately stops the moment I kill the launcher process.
Basic information:
Windows XP Professional 32bit SP3, all necessary software up to date
A Belkin Wireless G USB card
No Firewall, Antivirus software both enabled and disabled, Windows Security Center both enabled and disabled completely
Comcast High Speed Internet (not sure about the plan, I didn’t set it up) running at 1.5 mb/s down and ~1.0 up.
I’m not entirely sure what to look at, what tools to use to find the problem specifically, etc.
I will reiterate that this is the only computer in the house that has this issue, and only when attempting to download Star Conflict.
