Lasers only deal token damage just before overheating

While testing for overheat mechanics, I noticed that lasers only deal token damage just before they overheat. The damage seems to scale based on volley damage - the more damage your volley does, the less damage you will do in the shot just before fully overheating.

They should just make you a tester already, cause you are doing more work then the devs themselves at this point…

Lasers do have RPM, i.e. they behave just like every other weapon. You can confirm this by taking a 60 rpm laser and move it on and off the target - as long as you’re on target when it “ticks” once every second you’ll deal the same damage as if you stay on target.

I know that, but when you go off the target, it instantly deals damage, I have seen it happen several times that I had 3 hits right after eachother, with less than a second itnerval.

Hmm, never noticed that, but I’m not a laser user, might be worth testing. Does it full damage hits then or does each get hit with a fraction of the damage (if you noticed)?

It only does a fraction of the damage then, like missing 90% of your shot with a projectile based weapon.
