Lag in the Dreadnaught battle

  1. Description of the problem, what happened.
During the Dreadnought battle, most of my team (no idea if enemy lagged, but it looked like they did so as well) started having enormous lag for about 5 minutes, then it cleared, spiked for couple of minutes again, and was gone for the rest of the game

  2. What did you expected to happen.
    no lag, duh

  3. The conditions during the situation.
    Attacked sector: Service Shop
Time of the cycle: 4am UTC (2.5 hours prior to this post)
    Teams involved [NASA] vs [FDEF]

  4. Further details on the issue.
there were no indication for packet loss or increased PING, atleast for me, others had those indicators. On top of that, except for one guy (statuoflibroty) that was lagging due to his own issues, you can clearly hear on TeamSPeak that everybody had no internet outages, at least to TS server, which is located in EU though.

  5. Frequency of occurrence.
    Once

  6. Logs + screenshots or a video (Including a description of the issue, where to and how to reproduce it)
    [Dreadnaught battle lag .zip](< base_url >/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=10511)

Lag starts at 3:00 minute mark

  1. If possible, the time when it happend. In this case we will be able to look more closely to the server logs. Also mention your time zone.
    Attacked sector: Service Shop
Time of the cycle: 4am UTC (2 hours prior to this post)

  2. If the complaint is related to Sector Conquest, it is necessary to specify the location and time + timezone of the happening.

I run PingPlotter to the server i pulled form game.log AFTER the battle, i hope you excuse me for not doing it during the actual battle, you know was kinda busy trying to win the game. After the battle issue was already gone (lag stopped mid battle), plotter did not show any issues.

If you would be so kind and spend 2 minutes of your time watching the video (after damn Google process it), the existence of an issue will be clear.

Video is done processing, lag for everybody in the game starts at ~3:20+ and persists for about 2 minutes, 2d lag period is at around ~7:40 and gone at ~9:15. You can clearly see from the video the “slow down” effect.

Happened yesterday during jerricho dreads. I had 700 ping and we lost the match because of it.

I confirmed after the battle that FDEF also had it. The lag or whatever it was existed for both sides and for all players involved in the battle.

We’ve had this problem a long time ago when we fought DNO. This exact same problem, seen [here](< base_url >/index.php?/topic/27653-critical-bug-in-dreadnoughts/).

My own high ping is likely unrelated, by the way. It’s pretty obvious from watching that my internet sucked pretty bad there, but that’s a local issue, and doesn’t have any bearing on the server slowdown that happened twice in this game.

Even if you’re too busy to watch the whole video, the fact that it’s 21 minutes long for a gamemode that’s supposed to take at most 18 minutes should tell you something.

Please pay attention at Inmatch timer (countdown of 18:00 min at top right corner) and video’s time bar (bottom slider)

Start to finish

In game time  : 18:00

Real Time     :  0:12 (start) - 21.12(end) = 21:00 (total)

Total loss: 3 minutes

Lags time frames

Lag one

In game timer : ~ 15:18 (starts) - 14:34 (ends) = 44 seconds

Video time    : ~ 02:55 (starts) - 05:31 (ends) = 156 seconds

~112 seconds loss

Lag two

In game timer : ~ 12:40 (starts) - 11:54 (ends) = 46 seconds

Video time    : ~ 07:27 (starts) - 09:16 (ends) = 109 seconds

~63 seconds loss

пожалуйсто, поссмотрите видеo, соединение с сервером превосходное - там проблема не с соединением совсем, на видео все четко видно, да и выше я все расписал по секундам.

You have got to be kidding me  :fed014:

This problem existed for ALL of the players in the match for BOTH sides. Confirmed after the match with some FDEF guys. And yet you’re telling me that may be a problem stemming from ALL SIXTEEN pilots’ internet connections. That is statistically improbable.
