Santa delivered something else, but to Gaijin first!
Well, Gaijin is the developer and the publisher of War Thunder.
What about StarGem Inc., which is the developer? Will Gaijin as the publisher, deliver its promise and start to advertise their game? We shall see it, when Season 3 is out.
It may just be a matter of is (S)tarGem paying Gaijin enough that they could advertise and Gaijin is choosing not to? Or is (S)tarGem just paying Gaijin the bare minimum to only publish the game.
Either way, it is clear no money has been spent advertising the game since the initial steam release, and the player base backs that up.
Personally, I am convinced this game is ultimately going to fail as an international game if no advertisement campaign is launched or announced by the end of the year (meaning that the non-RU player base will ultimately disappear and the game will become an RU specific game).
I understand that it isn’t free, nor always cheap to advertise, but, as the old business saying goes, in order to make money, you have to spend money. You will never see an increase in players if you don’t spend the money to advertise. I’m not saying buy TV ad time or feature the game on steam every day, but featuring it once at the release of season 3 on steam will undoubtedly bring in new players, and doing small pop-up ads here and there (like what Wargaming does with WoT) on popular sites may not be a bad idea either.
