Kicked for inactivity in long range(sniper)

When I use the empire long range frigate (sniper) and go into sniper view and stay in for a little over 5 minutes then the server kicks me from the match saying something about inactivity. I am shooting just not moving and it happens every time now.

 

I think that is all the details needed here. If any more is needed I am here.

 

Also what is with pasting in these forums? I can’t paste in this box at all which is a slight nuisance considering that I wrote this somewhere else beforehand…

Confliction. i think you need to learn how to play LRF better. Because 5 minutes of sniper with a empire LRF is not the best way. I’m not saying you shouldn’t fill a bug report. But also read this really good guide from [JCNB](< base_url >/index.php?/topic/29954-the-lrf-handbook/)

Generally you should be moving to a more advantageous position every once in a while if using disintegrator.

As for making bug report, sure it’s not proper format, but if a game Dev cannot figure out how to reproduce this situation, then idk…how can you develop a game?

Good. Fly something else and you won’t be kicked. I think destroyers should also get kicked for inactivity after 5 minutes of sitting at 5k from a beacon spamming meson and gravity xxxx

Even if he where the best at it thats the worst type of player in any game.

 

And if u wanna copy/paste try ctrl C and V. I know! two buttons at once! its obscene! I can see why you might not be used to it.

Those are they guys removing their superior dps to let the team die and then Q.Q about sucking teams.

It wouldnt make any difference. Its the same as when destroyers came around. You give a player large weapon ranges then thats how the majority is gonna use it. At the maximum range. Players take what info they want from all the available.

I dont see anything wrong with that short description in game and even tho its shorter than the long winded version it has been ignored by most.

I do. 6 turrets? It should explain anything? Why not start with “Long-range among all the frigates have a lowest survivability but able to provide the highest damage output when using primary weapons in close range. They are also equipped with long range firing abilities which, although less devastating, are able to finish the weakened enemy far beyond the front line.” 

 

This is not just words - those are basic guidelines!

Actually the very name itself is confusing! Long-range? Those are mostly stealthy damage dealers - not long range snipers.

 

Its like calling Engineer a ‘Drone-dismisser’ and ECM ‘Invulnerability interceptor’

Anyway, it’s hard to have mercy, on a 5-minute-disintegrator-guy getting kicked, as most vets will hate you for even saying you do that.

anyway, here some LRF hate.

for me the LRF has the typical problem of snipers in any FPS: people try the high reward low risk setting, and feel more comfortable, if they dont have to “hastily move” into medium and close quarters. If most of the players are inexperienced, snipers usually are indeed the most easy class to play.

I get this  - I have had similar “cold water problems” with FPS, as I come from a strategy game background. But in the end, if you want to play sniper looking through a scope for 5 minutes, why not become more of an Arma player?

 

The game offers way too many LRFs in the ship tree, so it’s not just the players to blame. Most of them are useless compared, and the only ones which support some playstyle variation are mostly the GS ships. I would have never designed it this way.

 

I think, for PvP LRF should be the last ship choice. Only if you mastered all the others, you should start master it. Because it simply inspires lazyness and overconfidence, and usually, looking through a tube for a whole match doesn’t really tell you what went wrong, and how the team could have won; It’s bad to learn the game dynamics, and get more tactical knowledge, which often is the key to be an effective LRF in the first place. 

A guy coming in with a weaker fighter, sucking with it, but trying hard, and landing on bottom in a lost a match, deserves more likes, than an LRF on the top score board.

 

Anyone who kills those archers, is a hero.

 

The only exception actually is game modes where a sniper is crucial, like Dread Battles, or some kind of PvE, which I really dont care about.

Or a command a… well a command, does not explain anything and requires the player to learn a little about the ship. Any other name you could give the lrf would be just as misleading. Assault?.. too weak, laser/torp boat? same prob as before. People take what they want from any description u could give as the longer description in game is pretty close to what you put above and it does not stop the casual mouse hover over special module and think oh good 10k range bye bye bye bye.

 

On another note maybe destroyers were implemented to give these guys who sit in scope something they can hit. To have them feel as though they are doing something useful. The problem with the use of this class has been here since beta. Any change to its name or description wont make a single bit of difference. To be clear i dont hate lrfs just 95% of the players who use them badly.

 

Sitting in scope for 5 mins, that one comment. Take it to any shooter u like, u’ll be met with derision and rightly so. Its a universal player problem not the game.

This is old news and seems to have been fixed. I no longer care for Empire lrf. It has its place but most useless of them all even compared to ecm. As far as all the opinions are concerned, this was only a bug report and I later found that I needed to upload the log. Ace mistake and lessons all learned.
