is this game doing well? is it coming to PS4?

I just started playing this game yesterday and it is GREAT

As an old school X-wing, Wing Commander, and Freespace player, it’s great to see a space game like this. And I love how it has all sorts of cool modules that those other space games never tried. It feels really fresh and unique. The graphics are great too!

So is this game doing well? It seems to have zero advertising budget, because I only discovered this game’s existence through the Gaijin support website (I recently started playing War Thunder too)

And will it come to PS4 like War Thunder?

Finally, what are the biggest criticisms of the game from the long-time fans?

Advertising is very odd for this game. Some admin said that advertising will start when game leave open beta state, but War Thunder is in the same state and its advertised everywhere…(because of no real competitor right now? Eve is whole different game. War Thunder competes with World of Warplanes). Steam is only advertisment for game right now.

I dont think so about PS4, I feel that SC is made only for further support WT.

Biggest criticisms? Matchmaker that goes derp and matches you with two tiers highier (no worry, if you just started, it rather wont happen to you) or doing opposite - matching you in bots fight when you see 1700 people online.

Advertisement budget and criticism is the same: The game is still in beta, not officially launched yet.

Other criticism is around the changes game faces every now and then (as it is in beta). Those are hard to consider objectively. Some of those complaints relate only to current version, and might not be valid in next version. Or might get even worse.

One rather constant criticism after each version is related to “grind”. It takes lot of time to reach the top-level ships, as you need lot and lot of games to get lot and lot of credits, loyalty and synergy to achieve it, even if you pay real money. But that is part of the “free-to-play” business model apparently.

Other issue is lack of corporation (clan, group, guild) content and end-game content. But again, easy answer to these is “it is still in beta”.

So the criticism is actually about fear of uncertainty; will the game be good, as the game still keeps changing around us (taking us away from our comfort zone after every major patch). To add to this problem, the real money has already been allowed to be used in this beta game. Which I consider very bad move always (but, developers need to pay their bills and eat too…)

Advertising is quite bad tbh, and it is a pity, because this game is quite good, and a lot of people playing World of Warplanes or Warthunder could also join this.

Concerning the game is fun, but the current MM system will punish you a lot for getting in 3 or 4 people squads. 2 people squads are ok.

is there only one mode of PVP gameplay? The domination mode with 3 capture points?

are there any PVP and/or PVE missions with giant capital ships?

I don’t think this game is going out for PS3 (or 4 for that matter) in this current state of… Well, I can’t find an adjective to describe it. But you can have hope, nobody’s stopping you

The dreadnought mode is being developed. When? who knows…

There are severeal modes of PVP gameplay:

  • Domination

  • Bacon (sorry, beacon :P) hunt: It is like domination, but only one beacon active at a time, and everyone spamming guided torpedoes at it, while ceptors try to cap it.

  • Detonation. It is like a football match, you have a ball (a bomb) and you have goals (the other team beacons) and you have to bring the ball and score. The one who scores 3 times first wins.

  • Combat recon: Each team have a captain (chosen at random) As long as your capt is alive, you can respawn, if you capt dies, then you can’t. If no capt is dead, then the guys with more kills win.

  • Beacon capture: Here you can only use each ship once. Each team has 3 beacons with full health and drones. The other team has to cap them. The one who caps more wins.

So far these are the ones currently active.

Lol, now I’m hungry, thanks xD

And btw, I don’t think the “Dreadnoughts” will see the light of day.

T1 have domination and combat recon mixed randomly, so it could be thought that there is only one mode if you get the same some times in row.

am i supposed to shoot the beacons in domination mode? I thought I just fly up to it and cap it

Correct, if you are not taking damage, and in a 750m radius of a beacon in beacon hunt/domination, you capture it. Which is the objective!

And shoot the enemy ships nearby them so they don’t cap the beacon, as well.

I hope the game is doing well because it seems like the space combat game I’ve waited 14 years for. X-wing Alliance was my last favorite space combat game and it came out in 1999

what’s weird is that it seems like i will get a gameplay advantage over others if I put money into the game. People say it’s just “pay to skip grind” but, I don’t even want to have level or equipment advantages over anyone

Yeah I wish this game was more like MechWarrior Online in space. Have a set of equipment, and weapons with certain amount of slots per ship. Allow us to mix and match the stuff how WE want it. Get rid of the Tiers, and just make several variants of the different ships each with different types of weapon slots, etc… Basically like I said…MechWarrior Online in Space. That game has issues at times, but is WAY better than the direction this one is taking.

For domination, it has trickier rules than other match types.  You can cap two beacons, do nothing else but hold, and then win.  I don’t recall all the rules of the scoring but it’s been posted on the forums before.  A kill is one point, beacon captures get points, holding two continuously gets points.

Biggest problem to me, many patch balance changes are overkill and get partially reverted in the next patch.  Either that or the patch has glaring bugs that indicate to me they weren’t properly tested.  I see that the devs are working to make a good game, but some of the ways they’re doing it are wrong, but sometimes they generate rage while the intent is good.  A good example is the weapon changes of 0.9.0.  Before there were I think 12 weapons and ship could load.  Now it’s limited to four per type.  It was impossible to balance interceptor weapons vs frigate weapons for example.  To play in that first weekend was a nightmare of trying to find out what’s the best weapon in what situation, and some were ridiculously OP.  Even though it wasn’t that long ago, many players have forgotten their old weapons for the most part, and weapons can actually be balanced better.  The loyalty change can actually help you if you haven’t just grinded loyalty the whole game and gotten full blues on all your ships.  The prices I feel are still wrong, but conceptually it’s better.

All this is contrasted with the reticle.  For that, read this [http://forum.star-conflict.com/index.php?/topic/19611-losing-track-of-your-aiming-reticle-make-it-more-noticable/](< base_url >/index.php?/topic/19611-losing-track-of-your-aiming-reticle-make-it-more-noticable/) and pay attention to dates.  Recently we had I think three or four weeks of a piss poor reticle for knowing where to shoot, including a week with no patch, when we’ve been asking for improvement since May.  In the middle of that was a week of dealing with aiming being based on your ping and not something shown in game.

The game’s fun, it’s addictive.  I’m not sure the devs are doing enough to hook in the T1 players.

In my opinion this game was a lot more fun, and balanced when there was just Plasma, Lasers, and Railguns. You then had Short range, Assault, and Long Range of each of those, AND you could put ANY of those on ANY ship. This along with different Ammo types made the game a lot more fun for me. If I wanted an Inty with Long Range Railguns (don’t know why you would want to, but…) if that is what you wanted to do. Also, the Ammo types made it so you could use 1 type to bust someones shields, and then switch to another to finish their hull. I don’t see why the DEVs thought it was necessary to go all wacky with the weapons.

shihku7 welcome! Good luck in space.  :012j:

Phobias please don’t write offensive comments. I hide one, next time it won’t be that easy.

By the way, game will be released soon. And we probably will work with advertising.

No and No.

Finally, what are the biggest criticisms of the game from the long-time fans?

The constant, asinine updates that fly in the face of what players ask for. There is an undercurrent of seriously petty vindictiveness in a lot of the changes, and if you follow the patch notes for any length of time you will be left with the impression the Developers don’t give a crap about the player base.
