This whole drag the camera around with the mouse using the edge of the screen is very annoying.
It’s a bit cumbersome at first, but you need the reticle and the camera to move around like that. Having a fixed turret placement will make it nearly impossible to hit things in this game.
If you want, try Expert piloting mode. you have to move your mouse less to get the camera to rotate, but it will be impossible to shoot your turrets at extreme angles.

I don’t think you get what I mean.
What I would consider a normal 3rd person control setup from other games is:
Tanks -
WASD rotates the hull or drives forward and backward. Targeting crosshair stays in the center of the screen at all times like most other shooters.
Planetside 2 Magriders / aircraft -
WASD strafes and drives forward and backward. Targeting cursor stays in the center of the screen at all times like most other shooters. Moving the mouse left or right rotates the hull left or right. In third person, the camera rotates independently from the hull, the center of the screen is still technically a targeting crosshair, but because the hull can take up to 2 seconds to catch up with what you are looking at firing doesn’t always go where you are looking.
Ideal Star Conflict controls:
WASD controls forward and lateral movement (Other keys control vertical movement with optional keybindings for attitude control if that’s your thing). Targeting crosshair stays in the center of the screen like most other shooters. Moving the mouse left or right rotates the screens view of the ship keeping the targeting crosshair in the center of the screen. This happens with no wacky built-in mouse acceleration / drag or speed differential which is critical to good aim. The ship automatically brings it self about to face the direction like it does currently you are pointing unless Free Aim or an attitude control key is held down. If by chance they bring back slower rotating turrets into StarConflict again, it will still be the same deal with you have to wait for the turret crosshair to line up with the aiming reticule to hit your target, which is no different than the current setup.
It’s basically the exact same thing as basic mode, only you don’t move the cursor, you move the camera like in other FPS / Space / Boat games where you have 3rd person turrets… This would be way better than the current setup that requires you to drag the edges of the screen (horrible for aiming) for whatever unknown reason.
I was going to test to see if a joystick emulator would work the way that makes sense, but I’m having trouble getting one to work.

Thumbs up. As i mentioned in the other topic ([http://forum.star-conflict.com/index.php?/topic/27572-can-we-get-an-fpsshooter-aim-mode/.](< base_url >/index.php?/topic/27572-can-we-get-an-fpsshooter-aim-mode/.) Its basically the same), this should be a toggle on/off mode because the main difference with this and the actual aiming mode (besides from acceleration/deceleration) is that for constant camera moving you would have to move the mouse over and over and you would not get a steady orbit over some ship/object (thats why i sayed it sucked for fast movers…any way you dont get a steady orbit with high ping so what ever for me). However this mode priviledges a much more precise aim; since its steadier it allows greater accuracy: just perfect for frigates and mid-long range ships…just think about desintegrator mode: gets really easy to aim ships.
