is it just me or are there way too many forums on here?

I feel like it should just be:

  1. General

  2. Suggestions

  3. Off-topic

  4. Tech support

and… that’s it

Hello,

with more categories it is easier to navigate through the forum, because you can indicate where to look for certain topics.

I too always felt like there were slightly too many, but some people prefer organising it like this.

As a side result, I simply ignore large parts of the forum entirely as there are too many sections to browse otherwise.

We should have a thingy of some sort that tell you at a glance which posts or threads are being looked at right now or rising in popularity.

While the 4 forums you suggest are too few, the division of the forums went a bit overboard. The biggest problem I have with the current configuration is that there is no “General Discussion” in a prominent place. The equivalent “Miscellaneous” subforum is kinda buried at the bottom of the Game Discussion section. This makes me post any useful information I’d like to share in the Guides forums, even though my posts are hardly guides.

It’s an extreme hassle to see where people are even talking. Half the forums are unnecessary.

You mean like the “View New Content” tab?

You mean to tell me you created a forum about how you don’t like having forums about forums in your forums? Forumception!

The problem as I see it is that there is simply way too much over-specialisation.

The mercenary centre isn’t bad, but game discussion should be one forum, not 10+. Same with suggestions and bug reports.

For example, if I’m posting about the cost of ships, does that go in leveling and economy, or ships? How about the ship tree layout? Over-organising things makes the forum counter-intuitive to use, and actively stifles feedback because good ideas can (and likely do) get ignored for “being in the wrong forum”.
