interceptor weapons?

Plasma Gun + Storm Viking + Strafe = TROLOLOLOL

Plasma Gun + Supernova + 3X Strafe + Golden Eagle = TROLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

Is it possible to have adaptives on while only strafing? I have never tried it but that would be epic if you could ^^

It doesn’t have Stasis.

It is.

It is.

xxxx, seriously?

i mean, i have white gear on t4 and no fully-synergized ships, but i have been thinking about it

that would be awesome

Yes, Grey Falcon can do that, don’t have a Golden Eagle so i’m not sure there.

You don’t need stasis. You have orion.

And yes, you can activate adaptives while strafing in two directions at the same time (or one direction and going backwards)

But is it possible while strafing in one direction?

No, but if you go backwards while you strafe you will be able to do so.

It also works without the armour plated hull, but I thought of this module as a way to reduce maximum speed on other ships that do not have 3 engine slots for inertial stabilisers.  This is just my normal implant setup for interceptors.  No changes made there.

Plasma gun:

  • Good at dogfights

RF Blaster:

  • Close range, bad at dogfights vs fast and nimble interceptors

  • Recommended ammo: Supernova. Always. Also, one or two electronic guidances are great in this weapon. With a bonused ship and two purple EG, your fully open spread is 1.6 and the initial spread is 0,3. Really good for burst attacks.

Sharpnel cannon:

  • Not that good vs dogfigthers

i dunno if i can agree to your idea about how good some weapons are for dogfights.

i completely agree about what you wrote about pulse lasers. they are fine as they are. they are reliable. they get the job done. they just need more time. and people using curved complain about loss of dogfight ability, while actually, it was way too easy to dogfight with them with the op curved.

rfb is better with double deflectors, except if you use correct implants for nova or have bonuses. it is an excellent dogfight weapon in that case; nova rfb is as you say not great for dogfighting, except if you got bonused ships. the key is to use the spread to your advantage; short bursts in turning fights, while non-stop fire if you follow someone; using the spread to give you some hits on the target if he heavily tries to wiggle away, no matter how he turns, and the constant stream of fire makes your prey nervous; of course you combine this with rocketry. using speed ammo is a good start to compensate for difficulties while dogfighting or learning the weapon.

plasma gun is easy at dogfights, but not as good against a skilled enemy, its ofc good if you attack from behind/ambush or with support, and the enemy has no time to turn on you. it is quite viable of course on bonused ships, but you will be at a disadvantage in a 1v1 even against a RFB player who knows what he is doing. true, you have a very good spread reduction going on once the weapon is firing, but this is also its greatest weakness: getting into a turning fight actually profits from short bursts, so the main usecase would be to shoot down enemies from behind, where you can follow their flying. but that means, your enemy isn’t really a dogfighter, or you are just ambushing - thats not real dogfighting. main disadvantage is simply the missing damage for bigger targets.

shrapnel needs a lot of exercise for dogfighting, but it isnt bad either. well once the shield is down. as long as you dodge well enough, and are very very chilled, each of the shrapnel hits takes away a chunk of the enemy, sometimes the dogfight is therefore faster done than it began. its still superior if you got some plasma wingman doing the shields for you.

I tried to switch to fast plasma in my golden eagle, once the new plasma mechanic were released, but the truth is, RFB is just better in close range fights. or maybe i just played that weapon way too much.

I didn’t said it wasn’t quite op. I was saying that now compared to other weapons are useless against frigs and fighters and quite MEH in dogfight. Since a couple of well placed shrapnel/rf hits does much more damage than pulse laser. Btw doesn’t happen so much lately a good old dogfight isn’t it?

We need a “staff meeting”
