Interceptor damage

Hey, I am quite new to this game, so maybe you can help me.

I am playing an empire interceptor (currently at Dwarf 2), but I seem to do something very wrong. I can not damage enemy ships since I switched to my new Dwarf 2, my weapon is a rapid-fire plasma cannon T2 MK.II.

Am I doing something wrong? I can fire at enemies as long as i want, this is just sad! Before that, i was at least able to kill a frigate in 1on1 (which took very long), but now i am seriously underpowered (regarding to my firepower)…

What is wrong, it is unplayable for me…? Please help

To get the most out of the rapid fire I went for the empire +10% crit chance implant, then fed implants up to the 50% increased crit damage, and am using a covert ops interceptor since they come with an innate 30% to crit applied to anything slapped on to them.

Now I can autofire out 1k crits with orion activated on weakly shielded frigates. I guess if you haven’t done it yet, you should also be using the weapon damage modifiers, I see alot of people not even trying to use them, but I suppose you gotta reset the key to switch, f1 and f2 are just a pain in the xxxx to reach when you need to be using wasd to avoid getting pummeled.

I dunno what the dwarf is, but if it isn’t covert ops I dunno how it does it’s damage.

Hmm sounds like i chose the wrong faction  Orion is pretty awesome, plus they have a really high crit chance and are the fastest interceptors.

Well I have to say, I am done with this game. Being two-shotted by some frig with 38k points, and not doing relevant damage (Empire Interceptors: unguided rockets are pretty good, but limited + primary weapon is horribly bad) - it is just not motivating, and a slow playstyle is not mine so I wont switch

There is potential in this game, but I dont think there will be big changes.

Engineer Frigs I bet, because my Guard Frigate cant kill anything without overloading it’s heavy lasers three times

You’re fighting in a Dwarf 2, which is a recon. It’s not a damage dealing ship. If you want an interceptor that can do damage then cross-train federation or jericho and get a covops.

Having said that, if you really want to stick with the recon, then a “combat” fit for a Dwarf 2 would be:

Weapon: RF plasma or Pulse lasers

Active: Phase Remodulator

Active: Spy Drones

Active: Parasitic Remodulator

Passive: Collision Accelerator

First pick a target that’s not in a big furball (your MWD is good for getting out to LR frigates standing off), lay your spy drones on it to gimp any self healing it has, use your parasitic remodulator and go to town on it with your weapons. Strafe around to keep it from hitting you but far enough away to stay out of its minefield. Your parasitic remod should take down their shields pretty quickly, then you have to chew through their hull. If you start getting shot at by something other than your target, or if your target turns out to be able to track you well enough then your phase remod is your gtfo card. Cloak and break for an asteroid and lose them around it.

But still, it’s not really a combat focused ship. If you want a ganky interceptor, get a covops.

You make it sound like interceptors are underpowered, im confident that they aren’t, although im not sure they aren’t overpowered or not.

Its probably some part of the game that you havent learnt yet, like you are firing from to far away, not leading or something else.

also, do you use teamwork? lone interceptor, is, to be honest, just a feed to the sharks…

don’t give up, this is great game and you loosing a lot of fun
