I. Last week Federative Institute of Military Science has made a breakthrough in its research of crystalline energy distributor. The situation is quite unique because there are mercenaries working at this project as consultants along with scientists. Our question “what benefits will mercs get from this?” we received the following answer: this new distributor will be more precise in charging the capacitors to optimal volume, which will result in guns systems accuracy. The problem is that capacitors of the mentioned type are used in old types of guns, so this new technology will have no impact on cutting-edge systems, as their inner design is completely different.

Such distributors are widely used in beam cannons, but their function there is to reduce fotons loss and therefore increase damage.

II. New research in the field of chemistry and engagement of vacuum with crystalline grid has led to increase in efficiency of explosive materials used in coil mortar shells. Explosions are supposed to become more powerful compared to basic figures, this will allow to overswing damaging elements within a larger radius.

III. One of federative companies producing nano-robots declared its bankruptcy. Though it used to occupy quite a small part of overall market, this information made nano-robot purchase prices increase by 20%. This won’t influence self-maintained systems, but those pilots who used to buy nano-robots for their cannons or campsites will have to reduce their number per square centimeter.

IV. Imperial Army has received orders to purchase new energy distributors, and all imperial ships will pass compulsive modification. Still, innovations sometimes may deliver certain disadvantages. New generation devices seem to have a side-effect transmiting energy to old-type generators. Noone has predicted this, as primitive stream generators have long ago been been outdated throughout the galaxy. Ironically, these generators are the only option to deliver a fixed frequency needed for imperial disintegrators. Energy loss will reduce efficiency of imperial total destruction weaponry, especially old models of ships will be influenced.

V. Nano-robots prices increase has influenced othere spheres they are used in. Jericho rocket manufacturing facilities that used nano-robots to fill the tanks with solid fuel, had to reduce basic tanks volumes for the most fuel-guzzling devices - guided torpedos. Mercenaries and the military hope that this is a temporary measure, and the factory will find a new supplier with old prices shortly.

VI. New distributors have also influenced other spheres. You wondered why does an enhanced scanner need one? As it turned out, it really does. New distributor, which is more compact, gave an opportunity to free some space inside the module and let elements of infrared scanner be installed there.

VII. New rocket reloading systems, produced by a well-known Jericho company, are famois among the military. These systems, based on soft gravity reloading principle, will be available at all the UMC stores shortly. This system will perform reloading with a much higher rate and make the whole process absolutely safe.

VIII. A serious malfunction has been found in the system of leader assignment at recon missions in the sector. The official version declares this to be caused by a virus, possibly a pirates’ one. It was designed to sabotage the Centre’s systems, which it has actually done perfectly. Now all the contaminated files are clean, all the missing data will soon be restored and the system will return to normal operation.A serious malfunction has been found in the system of leader assignment at recon missions in the sector. IX. History column

History of StarMed. Part II.

It has been a while after the Clones War, when a new society calling itself a Federative Union of Worlds officially seceded from the Empire. StarMed, by then a major corporation owning quite a number of clinics and about 25% of medicines market, has declared the newly created union its legitimate sphere of commercial interests.

Federation was glad to obtain such a partner, but because of lacking of own cloning technologies and declared values, decided to take its own way. Its scientists began to analyze the mental effect, which imperial scientists considered to be incidental. Hundreds of scientists spent tens of years studying this effect, and finally managed to find some trends. This led to creation of a protoclone which structurally was a simple robot with biomaterial tanks. Mental connection directly depends on biomaterial created with the help of donor’s (pilot’s) DNA. Its form doesn’t matter.

Federation has made a huge step since then. They managed to create not just robots, but real cyborgs. Now they spread living tissues, grown out of the donor’s DNA, over titan skeleton. This makes a cyborg more resistant to negative factors of conquering the space and made production process more cheap. The cyborg is taken to the ship in a special capsule; when the ship is autopiloted to the sector, real pilot at one of nearby bases uses a special helmet to connect to the cyborg’s body. He sees and hears everything that the cyborg sees and hears. Tissues fluctuations are scanned by the computer to duplicate actions.

Jericho families which are very conservative have their own traditions and technologies, so they unanimously rejected StarMed’s offer to use more cheap cyborgs and clones. Almost all Jericho technologies (except genetics) are cutting-edge and are a great example of technological and engineering perfection. Almost all Jericho ships are completely automated systems, most of them don’t even have viewports. Pilots operate their ships via subspace communication with the help of devices that look like glassy holohelmets. A pilot has full control over his ship being tens of light-days away from dangerous sector.

Though conservative Jericho refuses rejects services, StarMed leadership doesn’t lose hope that these talks will one day have a positive result.

We require more iridium!

The UMC decided to end the mess created by mercenaries around the “Iridium stream” sector, and came to the conclusion that the group to control the sector has to be chosen in the most civilized manner.

60c692162019.png

The decision is to organize a special “Iridium Wars” tournament. The winning team will receive a single prize of 10000 Gold Standards per person and the right to exploit the sector’s deposits for one month. The contestants are already practicing and discussing tactics. Have you enlisted yourself?

From the other hand

Many pilots are displeased by the tournament format chosen by the UMC. But reliable sources tell that this is not the end, and that pilots willing to compete under more up-to-date rules shouldn’t worry.

Sustained Influence

Influence rating hasn’t changed much during the week. The only thing worth attention is that 2 corps entereed the top 10 -  Syndicate  and  Cerberus. Also high influence gain rate of  SIRIUS should be noted: 3440 per week.

1 (0).The DNO Inc [DNO] – 6880 (+2939)

XI. Another critical time on the border of Federation and Jericho. Having lost all sectors but two, the federates gathered themselves and performed a successful attack, pushing the border a few sectors ahead.

Some experts still consider this success to be caused by absence of jericho main forces at the border - they have directed their strike to the Empire and have taken a couple of sectors back, stopping the advance of Imperial forces.

Imperial robots are the best robots ever. If they are ordered to load the cargo - they do, and if they are ordered to fly… They also do, even if they don’t have gravity generators or jet engines.

Buy our robots - they’ll follow all your orders!

My predictions:

  1. beam weapon rebalance.

  2. coil mortar buff, increased blast radius.

  3. eclipse launcher nerf, reduced damage

  4. disintegrator rebalance, including a damage nerf and a buff to compensate.

  5. Jericho LRF torpedo range decrease

  6. enhanced scanner and infared scanner being merged into one module?

  7. new module available to reduce missile reloading times,

or an all around buff to missile reload,

or a new missile reloading system where you reload one missile at a time rather than one clip at a time. for example, for a 6 missile clip, reload 1 missile every 15 seconds rather than 6 in 90 seconds when the clip is gone.

I’m hoping for the third.

  1. yet another method for selecting captains in combat recon will be introduced.

this will be an interesting update.

lol, reminds me of an advertisement right out of a 2000AD comic.

My predictions:

  1. beam weapon rebalance.

Most likely a damage buff to compensate the range nerf.

  1. coil mortar buff, increased blast radius.

Agree

  1. eclipse launcher nerf, reduced damage

Agree

  1. disintegrator rebalance, including a damage nerf and a buff to compensate.

Most likely the damage on lower tiers will be lower, but in high tiers will remain the same. As it is now, in Tier 1 and 2 is OP, considering people can’t tank properly.

  1. Jericho LRF torpedo range decrease

Agree

  1. enhanced scanner and infared scanner being merged into one module?

Most likely the ES will have a small critical bonus, but less than the IR scanner. Good for recons, I always struggle between fiting a IR or a ES.

  1. new module available to reduce missile reloading times. (This already exists)

or an all around buff to missile reload,

or a new missile reloading system where you reload one missile at a time rather than one clip at a time. for example, for a 6 missile clip, reload 1 missile every 15 seconds rather than 6 in 90 seconds when the clip is gone.

I’m hoping for the third.

I think it will be a rocket reload all around buff, most likely the clip (now is the same time than standard missiles)

  1. yet another method for selecting captains in combat recon will be introduced.

I bet they are going back to the “best DSR” choice, which I like.

this will be an interesting update.

Indeed, it will be an interesting update  :yes_yes:

^^ ah yes the flying robots in the hangar got explained finally.
