Hi, I dont know if this is the right place for this, but I had to say something because im pretty dissapointed and I have to vent somewhere.
I had been playing for about 2-3 weeks and was loving every bit of Star Conflict, such an awesome game. Really supreme gameplay unlike anything ive seen since freelancer or X3. I thought okay these developers know what they are doing and deserve support and im happy to support them by buying a steam dlc for permanent loyalty increase of 10% and a extra loot chance. I thought about buying a license, but I didnt like the idea of having to pay monthly, also I was planning to play enough that the loss in rep etc woudnt be a problem.
Then the latest patch happend… 0.7.10 And everything seemed even better! stearing seemed to have been improved and I was having even more fun. The fun ended however, when I suddently noticed I wasnt getting any, or atleas very little rep with factions… turned out only contract gave rep now, making everything suddently come to a crawl… still I wasent going to be dettered. I know my grinding and was prepared to do so. Although I still felt the rep gain was way to slow making me a bit worried about the progression. On this bases I decided to pospone my steam dlc purchase.
Then, today, I tried inviting a third squad member, on which the game informed me atleast 1 party member should have a license. This made me change my mind on buying a dlc… because even if I spend 20-60 Euro/Dollar on a dlc, I still can’t play with more then 2 friends unless I continuesly buy a license? This in my opinion is a really bad idea. It would make my dlc purchase worthless to me as I would like to be able to play with more then 2 people in a squad, but I dont want to buy a license.
Im really not angry, like some flamers, Im just really sad about it. I loved this game so far. I dont often buy games, but this one really seemed worth it. Then in 1 patch, this all changed. I hope the devs reconsider this road and for sure I will be back to buy a dlc.
I guess you can’t afford to play the game with more than 2 friends, then.
You could always try World of Tanks…which does the same thing.
And charges you more.
For a worse game.
Bye.

First of all, this guy’s a jerk.
Secondly, I agree that the last patch was bad for the game. A lot of players are taking a break from the game and will check back to see if the developers fix things with the patch that comes out tomorrow. In the mean time, we’re playing other games. I recommend planetside 2 because it’s free to play and you can fly space-ship types of aircraft in it.
I bought the $80 DL and tbh, promptly squandered it, lol.
I think as a guy who has “skin in the game” I can wholeheartedly say the license cost simply needs to be reduced. Otherwise, the DL content isn’t *bad* but I certainly wouldn’t call it the best value in gaming by any means.
At this point, having spent $80, and an additional $40 on GS’s, I *highly* doubt I will be buying a lisence at the current cost. Which just means less fun for those I play with and less recommendations to the game for friends.
Essentially, I agree, $120 later, oh, I agree.
Sigh, people need to research more before venting their disappointment
Yes, the faction rep has been slowed, but in about 2 weeks I’m tier 3 in one faction and almost tier 4 in another, the old progression system was too fast in my personal opinion, and the current rate isn’t so bad. As for loyalty rep, yes, it’s is a crawl at the moment, but they HAVE fixed this… well they tried to, but something went wrong in the 7.10 update #1 and it didn’t work as intended, so it will be released in the next big patch coming up soon. Basically they have lowered the cooldowns and increased the gain of contracts.
And as for the liscense… It costs less than your average MMO. You can get 6 months of liscense for $37, where your average MMO will cost you between $90 and $60 dollars for six months (depending on paying per month or 6 months at a time), so it really isn’t so bad. Support the dev’s for a great game
I bought a dlc few days before the patch…and man am I angry.
However, now that I play through it…I don’t think its all that bad. Yes, I think it was way too easy to rank up faction before the patch…at the rate it was going before the loyalty change, I manage to rank up 4 faction to 6 in 1 day…
Still, I think the implementation of the latest patch was poor. Now the faction levels so slowly compare to the race that unless you’re content like me to remain in lower tier to grind the money to outfit your ship, you’ll probably be flying higher tier ships with mk1 modules.
As for the license to squad with more than 1 players, they do that in all similar games. WoT only allows for 3 with license, and is way more grindy and not in an enjoyable way. DLC only gives you a small bonus and is meant to generate a one off income for Gaijin, while license is the constant income stream which is necessary for all games. And in a F2P game, it is important that the license provides some added benefit to incite players to buy it…yet not too game breaking. Also, it’s only USD10…
I myself am really enjoying the game and will certainly spend money in the long run if…
Games like this thrive on team combat they are designed for you to group with you friends and blast hell out of others. ANYTHING that makes this hard is a bad thing. other MOBAs dont need you to pay monthly to survive. Planetside 2, LOL, Mechwarrior Online all of these are of a similar playstyle in the fact that its team on team (not that there all space fighter combat games) and none of them require monthly play to team up.
Please remove the licence requirement on this. to me it shows that you are not confident in your product and your ability to convince players to spend cash in other ways like ship skins, time savers and decals.
If not although i am enjoying this game now i doubt i will for long without a licence. while i like the game i also like others and my money will go to where i feel i can get value for myself, be that a new lol char, a PS2 shotgun or a MWO cockpit item. it wont be on something i have to pay monthly for just to play with my friends.
I would recommend against putting any money into this game until the subfaction loyalty is brought back to a point where it’s not an insane grindfest requiring weeks of playing to rank up a couple levels, and until the restriction on playing with friends is removed from the license and granted to everyone by default.
I know that personally, I can’t in good conscience recommend the game to anyone else I know, because of these two issues. One step after another that just seem to be perpetrated, not to improve gameplay for the players, but to improve the bottom line for the company.
What other changes are going to come down the pipe that screw over people who’ve put cash into this?
The rep system is far from finished, todays patch increasses the frequency we can do contracts and so increases the rep gain. they had to reduce it, in 2 days i had every subfaction at 6 except 1 (at 3). that was just obserd i woulda finished the game in 1month
as for the squad members, they’re atleast fair that only 1 of u needs it. there are many players that will always run prem or if u hav 3 friends to play with u can take it in turns buyin it each month so each only needs to buy it 3 times a year, and thats pretty gd value (~£20 a year)
That is not a great value on top of the price of everything else you can put money on, nor compared to the many other games you can get for such prices.
It is definitely not a good value whatsoever for people who don’t live in the US and $11/month is more equivalent to paying their cellphone bill 3x over.
It’s beyond stupid to restrict people from playing with their friends. Counter-intuitive to establishing a solid playerbase, too. People don’t want to pay money to play with their friends. Friends are free, and this is the kind of money grab that smacks of greed over player concerns, player enjoyment and the gameplay of the game itself.
Even from a gameplay stance, it’s essentially a pay-to-win implementation as only those who pay money can organize into squads of people who can effectively communicate and win games more efficiently.
I don’t have issue with how they’re selling weapons, ships, decals, likely even paint schemes in the future. I don’t have any issue with a license that reduces the grind.
I *do* have an issue with preventing players from playing with friends just so they can be milked out of more money.
I *DO* have an issue with those who can squad up essentially buying a significant and distinct advantage over the rest of us who don’t pay.

THIS , from all the things Said to be silly or worse wordings , i can really understand , and have to "draw my hat and say: Sir , you’re damn right!!! " + 1
this is a bit off topic. but here’s where i stand:
as much as it sucks to not be able to effectively level up my subfaction anymore (faction rep is also crawling), I am ok with it.
honestly I am ok with playing T2 matches with mk2 gear. I know there are a lot of guys with mk3 against me and even some guys with “removed modules” (t2 stasis gen) and I can deal there too.
what really bugs me is the squad size limitation for nonlicenced players. Not being able to play with my friends is where the licence system injures me.
I can also upvote last 3 posts. I dont really care the somewhat insane prices of endgame modules/ships, or that grinding is slow w/0 license, but paying to make squads with friend is imo just silly. I would have payed 30-50 euro to just buy the game, and enjoy it to its fullest, but paying “bills” to just to be able make squads with friends is sad. Anyway just wanted to say what was on my mind. Too bad that it will most likely not be changed no matter what we say.
According to dev post on russian forums dated 25.3. devs agree that current system is broken. They claim this is because they’re rolling the new rep system in parts, and their end goal is that “average player, someone that plays about 2-3 hours a day gets approximately same speed on levelling both main and secondary factions”.
Apparently they didn’t like the way most people just ignored contracts, which is why they are changing the system. At the moment, we’re apparently in the situation where change is ongoing but not done, so we’re stuck with basically a broken system that they promised to address to some significant degree in this week’s patch.
Sigh, people need to research more before venting their disappointment

I did the research, and I was actually reffering to subfaction loyalty gain. I also know they are fixing it. Stil, I believe that not making loyalty gain victory based but contract based is a bad idea because it forces people to do stupid things. And really as a lot of you know, they dont need help doing stupid mindless things to fulfill their contract instead of helping the team win, they do that fine on their own. The ‘fix’ of 7.11 still seems like a crawl to me btw. Also It wasnt my main concern as I stated. I believe it can be fixed, but im holding my breath. Your argument about MMO pricing is not really valid, as a general MMO has insanely more content then this game. I dont honestly consider this a MMO in any general sense of the word.
Im a fan, dont get me wrong, I want this game to succeed. Im just saying as it stands now, I would be willing to spend about 40 euro to either buy the game or content, but im not willing to buy the game and then pay for a license so I can play with my friends. I thought about the idea of paying it in turn like someone here suggested. But mind you, the person with the license has to always be online… this isnt really an option obviously. Next to that, it would be a real pain to organize it and keep track of it. I dont want to do this, I would like to spend money on a game and not worry about things like this. The devs have the full right to choose differently, but im saying it would prevent players such as me, and reading from these comments more like me, from spending money on this game. That would be a shame… for all parties involved.
The original post was before the fix patch and you are now spending time you could be playing whinging.
Why not go play the game?
