How to setup Jericho ships

Hi guys,

I havent played a lot of PVP, maybe 6-8 hours worth, however I have not been able to setup a proper ship. I have tried T2 lasers, railguns and plasma cannons and have not found anything that seems to do real damage. I am finding railguns to be too inaccurate and slow vs smaller targets while plasma cannons do poor damage vs hull. Lasers seems to be the most well rounded however even T2 Mark 3 assault lasers do very poor damage.

How should I be setting up the Jericho frigates? My instinct is to use railguns, however assault railguns have similar dps to lasers but significantly worse accuracy while rapid fire railguns are garbage in spread mode and the charged mode is suicide if you miss.

I really dont understand what’s going on as I have not found any good builds. On the other hand I have been killed in less than 3 seconds with full HP from empire/federation T2 frigates. It is getting really frustrating.

Rails guns are imo a bit tricky to use, as are quite similar to plasma, but have lower dps. For general purpuse i suggest you to use plasma(assault plasma), and in weapon always have the one, that transform plasma dmg to kinetic dmg, that means, that you can do quite high dmg to both hull and shield, so in the moment when enemy lose his shield just switch to kinetic dmg to attack his hull. This will not always help, because players might increase theyr hull kinetic resistance and shield emp resistance, but you should not currently think about that stuff. Anyway weapon choice is up to you.

1)What Jericho ships can effectively do is to take lightweight hull(starting from T2), which recude your hull stenght, but give you speed. As Jer ships already have low hull, taking away something like 8-15% hull wont make much of a difference, but speed boost is always good, even for frigs.

2)Buy temporary boost for 20k for 3 battles, that increase shield +10 to all. In T2 without license it can be a bit too expensive, but starting from T3 it is no longer a problem.

3)Your kinetic(shield) resistance might me quite high by default, then you mostly have to watch out about EM resistance and somewhat Termal resistnace. One option is to buy passive shield EM resistance module, and onother one is if you are flying Jericho fighter is to set Special ability to EM resistance.

Also if you mention which ship class(es) is the one you are flying and having issues with, we could give more info.

p.s. anyone else could probably give more info, as I have never used a single Jericho ship yet.

They are just mediocre at best, you really can’t survive anything at all if someone even looks at you.

That is why I think Fed Fighters are better than Jericho, atleast they got insane speed to survive with where was Jericho lacks in both, Tank compared to Empire and Speed compared to Federation.

Jericho & Empire Fighters seem like the brawler types compared to the Federation. If fitted right, you’re shield have insane resistances. If an Enemy focuses you with full shields he’s probably going to use EM damage so that fancy racial for Jericho comes in handy and if they swap to Kinetic damage they are probably going to swap to Kinetic which is terrible against shields. I have heard from some pilots that Empire Fighters are the best. I personally fly mostly Federation just hoping someday they will buff cloaking.

You can’t even get over 100 resists on shields on Jericho Fighters, pretty bad IMO :l

80 / 124 (64+60) / 87 on Machete Type S (+60 for your choice)

87 / 100 / 117 on my Phobos Aura.

Doesn’t seem like a big of a difference but Phobos Aura is just 100 times more durable than Machete Type S.

Blue Resist Aura also gives just 29.9 for Shields where as for Armor it is 36.4.

So in the end resists would be

  • Machete Type S (9207HP): 109.9 / 154.3 / 116.9

  • Phobos Aura (9773HP): 123.4 / 136.4 / 153.4

Much better average resists for Phobos Aura really, even though you can swap resists around on Jericho Fighters, it really doesn’t offer that much benefit when focused by multiple ships as you are pretty much quaranteed to be hit by multiple damage types.

In theory with the added passive regenration of shield you should have a pretty good tank there but in reality, it just isn’t :frowning:

Jerricho frigates are meant to be mid-range utility ships mostly. if you’re not dealing enough damage, you’re probably missing. if you’re missing, switch to lasers. they are easier to aim.

Also, your primary damage should really be your torpedo. keep up your AoE buffs and just fire torpedos. Assault weapons are best IMO. I prefer plasma (because they can do Kinetic and EM). Bring either Pulsar or Warp gate and then the hull and shield AoE buff. you can swap out the hull AoE for a shield booster for yourself. you can also use the short range plasma, as they don’t overheat, so it’s a lot more forgiving. the high spread also makes it more like a shotgun. so it can work in your favor. if you can, increase projectile speed if you want to go for damage over defense. this will make it easier to aim. if you’re using a close range weapon, high spread is actually in your favor. STick to plasma, rail guns suck ATM.

Focus on EM resist for your shields followed by thermal. if you lose your shields you’re pretty much already dead.

How did we get on fighters?

Fit Hail Plasmas and stay the xxxx away = only way to do anything meaningful in a Jericho Frig.

They are even worse at tanking than their Fighters are.

And stop fitting Warp Gates or spamming Jericho Missiles, nothing good comes out of either of those.

If you fly a Frigate without Shield AND Hull Repair Auras + Pulsar then you are doing something very wrong at Tier 2.

Actually my T2 Jericho Frig gets tons of kills and not from torp spamming either.   You have to think of what resources the ship has and how best to use it.

I run shield strength and EM resistance passive modules along with Warp, Pulsar, Aoe Shield Regen active modules.  Assault Lasers with the rank 5 Fed weapon range implant have a max range of 4.1k…more than enough for what you’ll need them for.

This ship is great at clearing a beacon of enemy’s and drones in a kamikaze type fashion.  Warp gates let you move across the map to support objectives quickly.  A good Jericho frig can dive a beacon being camped by inty’s, open with a torp, pulsar and minefield next to the beacon and you’ll get 3-4 kills, plus taking out all the drones before being taken out.  But what’s most important though is you just took out almost the entire defense for that beacon solo leaving it open for capture by your team.

When not clearing beacons use the range of your lasers to your advantage always keeping something to line of sight the enemy in case your shields get low.  I like to be around 3-4k away from the fighting exploding my torps on the edges of the fighting trying to hit only the enemy and not my squad mates.   Don’t sit out in the open as you’re an easier target.  I’ll usually hide behind something with only enough of my ship sticking out to shoot.  An asteroid or piece of metal trumps resistances any day.

After the patch Jericho ships kinda got the bad end of the ability distribution deal. Instead of strong shields that can adapt to the situation you have cloaking ability but no speed, tanking ability but no energy for it, its all wierd now.

Im gonna start over with federation now (unless they roll back the changes), since Feds have now everything that was taken away from Jericho

Really hate how as a reactive ability for defense I’m gonna be forced to activate it the second I get drawn upon, turn off my thrusters, and get forced to engage. If you don’t activate it fast they’ll melt your shields down and it may just be me but when my shields not up I don’t see any difference between having diffusion on or not.

I also hate having to choose between being more evasive or tanking the hits, because my enemies sure as hell aren’t slowing down when they’ve run up on me, and the hits tanked don’t translate into victory for me either way.

Seems like all I’m expected to do is float around the edges of the battlefield, buffing my allies and sniping, constantly running away.

Alright I take it back. Properly outfitted and played defensively the shield is great, and the cooldown on it is fantastic for light bouts of harassment.

I’m starting to wonder if that’s my job to Hail, Sniper Laser or Stabilized railgun junk my allies are hitting from a distance, the shield when used to evade light peppering is good at that job, but don’t expect it to perform any miracles, while I felt it was a pain after being used to getting up close and hammering targets, pretending I’m a lower class engineer has improved my play, following allied engineers seems to work pretty good since they need defense as well.
