How does Adaptive Shield work?

It says it works when the ship is flying at maximum speed.  Does this mean when flying at maximum possible speed as listed under your ship stats or just when the trottle is all the way down?  For example does it work when:

Flying straight, no afterburner?

Flying forward as fast as you can but while strafing (which slows you down)?

Strafing or reversing as fast as you can without using the forward throttle?

Flying as fast as you can while tackled?

Flying as fast as you can while carrying the bomb?

I wish an icon appeared whenever it was working, it kind of feels like nothing is happening at all sometimes and this is a difficult one to test :stuck_out_tongue:

Flying above your non-afterburner speed

Really?  So that is all that matters?  So even flying forward at top speed without afterburners is no good eh?  And it’s the speed listed on your ship info, not your current max speed?  So speed debuffing can make this not work?  Is it just the speed shown on the HUD?  Because that does not take your strafing motion into account (you can be strafing at 150 and your HUD says 0).  Also, what if I am speed debuffed in a gunship but by using modules I manage to reach speeds above my listed non-afterburner speed will this then trigger the shield?
