now that ships are locked to a specific weapon how do i see what kind of weapon a ship has? i just saw a gunship with a beam cannon, and i want to have ships like that but i dont want to use non beam gunships etc, how do i see what they’re locked to? :l
I believe that only T1 ships are locked into a particular weapon type (lasers for frigates, rails for fighters, plasmas for interceptors). Other than that, look in your equipment screen and click on the primary weapon slot. That should open up the weapon selecton on the right side of the screen. All options for that main weapon slot for the currently selected ship should be shown.
The only laser (thermal damage type) weapon that fighters can use now is the Ion Emitter.
You might want to check the warehouse, every module and weapon in the game that is available for purchase can be viewed there.
As twiddler said i got to T2 and noticed that they aren’t locked, im happily using a gauss cannon on a fox now.

Hi I saw this post and following the solved original question, I am having more questions.
I know from T2 and up there are more weapon options for every ship, but it is not like a ship can have all 3 types of damages, for example the Iron Harpy only has the option of thermal and plasma weapon, my question is where can I see that information before making a purchase? I think the maybe the dev team should pay a little attention to this aspect, so that before I buy a new ship(especially a premium ship), I know 100% what I am getting.
When we hover the mouse over each ship icon in the tech tree, we can see this nicely detailed DEFENSIVE information of a ship, can we add to this info page which weapons does the ship carry? Because it will be very disappointing to buy a premium ship and realize that premium ship doesn’t have the weapon type I desire. At this very moment I cannot decide which premium ship to buy because of this. I hate keep guessing and I am surely gonna buy more than several of them because some of them look so damn cool.

Not until you reach rank 6. I’m not sure which weapons unlock at which ranks, but you can’t actually use all the weapons until you’re nearly done with the tier.

Yep, me bad. It’s been a while since I got them all unlocked 
If you are in spectator mode, open the chat(press enter or ? by default) then roll over the weapon slot(where the modules are) with the cursor. You can now see all the specs 'n descriptions and stuff :005j: .
