High tiers: only one ship in lineup

It is really annoying that some players have only one ship in lineup in high tiers. Especially in Capture the beacons or destroy enemy ships. That kind of players only hurt their teams. There are tons of such examples. I would suggest that if you wanna play higher tier you need highest rank of lower tier. Example: If you wanna play tier 4 match with only one tier 4 ships then you need at least 2 rank 9 ships in your line up. That way you can be more useful than only having one tier 4 ships. Same applies to ter 5.

I already suggested this, but I will repeat again.

 

T4 requirements :

 

You should only be able to play with, if:

 

  • minimum of 3 ship slots equipped with proper/mixed tier ships or all 4

 

Possibilities :

 

  3 or 4 T4 ships

  1 T3 ship and   2 or 3 T4 ships

  2 T3 ships and 1 or 2 T4 ships

  1 T4 ship  and 2 or 3 T3 ships

 

Same applies for T5. T3 is replaced by T4 and T4 with T5, but with 4 slots only.

 

IMPORTANT : Mixing T1 ship or/and T2 ship, will prevent you running T4 and T5 PVP matches, from allowing you to launch it!

                      You cannot fly T4 PVP with only 1 or 2 ships or if you got T1 or T2 in your slot/s!

                      Tier 5 requires all 4 ship slots equipped and not 3 any longer !

 

 

Additional MUST rules:

 

Only fully equipped ships with all equipped slots is able to launch!

Engine, Capacitor, Shield, Hull, CPU, Missiles, Ammunition and Weapon must be equipped.

Spatial Scanner and Extended Hull based items should also be not permitted in PVP and PVE , Dreadnought Battles and Special Operations , but only in Invasion mode.

 

Requirements :

 

Minimum mark I equipment, of course.

Missiles and Ammunition must also be basic.

 

If you’re missing any slots on your ship, you CANNOT or SHOULD NOT be able to launch!

T1 mark I laser/plasma/assault rail, on all ships without a weapon, should no longer be an optional choice!

Weapon slots on the ships can remain, but the weapons should not be able to fire, since any specific rank or tier based ship, requires specific rank or tier based weapon, or you shouldn’t be able to launch into the battle!

 

This simply must be implemented.

MM is the issue number 1 problem and one of the main reasons is what I described!

I suggested this many times. The ruleset already has in place, that you cannot use lower ranked ships, to prevent people from tier rushing.

 

Since the nature of T4&T5 is to give you CtB games, T4 PvP should have 3 ships being mandatory, and T5 should have all slots filled being mandatory. After all, if you reach R12, you have 4 slots.

 

There is also simply no way, you cannot fill up the rest of your slots, since you have to have at least a couple ships which are still allowed to bring, even with the rank restriction.

Why not? Spatial Scanner still gives you crit chance, Extended Hull still is roughly Reinforced Beams; I don’t see the need to restrict modules, just make sure all slots are filled.

When I started the game, I flied sometimes with no ammunitions nor missiles to gain extra credits… That could save a lot (up to 20 / 30 % of the credit gain). That didn’t make me a bad pilots, and even raise my skills at dogfight by not relying on burst from missile. Same as g4borg, there is no reason to prevent the use of open space modules (they are equivalent to mk1). And if you prevent launching with no module, if a player, not willingly, sell a weapon, and don’t have the money to bought it back, how would they launch a game? That would surely open a lot of tickets to handle by the game masters.

 

If you want restriction, why not force players to fit one slot with an engineer, coz those ships are always usefull, and a guard with destructor, coz it’s insanely OP in t4… Or even force them to use microlocator on recon to counter other recons holo and tackler, coz skilled pilots do that…

 

A small level of restriction (3 ships in t4, 4 in t5) is good to ensure a fun gaming experience to most players, imo.

A high level of restriction is just plain stupid and would cause more harm than good.

Well, I meant to mark this as optional, but Spatial Scanner is useless, since you won’t search for Mysterious containers in PVP or PVE and same goes for Extended Hull. Cargo slots have no effect as well, unless if you still want to get 8% chance from Spatial Scanner and some armor hull from Extended Hull only.

Still, this rule can get ignored, but there must be restriction system, like g4borg said, which prevents tier rushing in useless, underdeveloped ships (unequipped) ships.

Just having ships will do for a start. Even a crap ship is better than nothing as the person with one ship is pretty obvious to people who actually look at the enemy team and guess who gets focused? XD

Just exclude Capture the Beacons from mode selection when a player has only one or two selectable ships in their lineup.

 

The rest of the trouble here can be traced to poor availability of information regarding the Tiers and PvP in general.

I think the ruleset needs to be changed slightly. It should add in most of Koromac’s suggestions, as well as change the spread of ships you can take (You should not be able to take a R9 into a T5 game). If your highest is a R13, your lowest should only be able to be a R10 (apply to other tiers/ranks)

 

@NuclearHail, I think that would create unnecessarily long queue times. The queue times for T5 are already long enough. If the player base were larger, sure, that could work.

Simple fact is, by R12, everyone has 4 ship slots, so everyone should be required to take 4 ships in T5 (T4 is fine to have 3-ship minimum since not everyone has 4th slot).

there was this guy who had only 1 ship in his line up then did nothing

through the entire game I’m not kidding he had 0 eff in the first match

then 35 eff point in the 2nd match then the next day I saw him again

he still had 1 ship in his line up then he scrored 0 point again

so I see the point  but it’s only natural for a player who just got his first

t5 ship to wanna play some t5 pvp despite my bad experience I don’t think

we should bann them from all t5 matchs maybe not the capture the beacons 

but there should be at least one t5 pvp match they can join imo

or why would they bother to buy t5 ships? with all that trouble to

lv up t4 ships and grind credits

 

and another problem. yesterday I saw a rank6 ship in a t5 pvp yes that happened

it was 2 man squad, leader had 1 tier5 ship and 3 t2-3 ships in his slots

the other guy had only 3 t2-3 ships in his slots so thx to the leader he sucked

into t5 pvp and since he had no ships available at that tier system just made him

play any ship he had. to my great surprise he scored 2 kills with rank6 command

and rank7 guard so I had no choice but to give him a thumb up XD since my team won

nobody complained about that incident but if situation were different it could have been

an unpleasent experience I don’t think this kind of incidents would happen very often

but it would be nice to avoid these kind of incidents in the first place

Simple as that - ban lower tiers. You need to have 3 T4 ships for any mode except Domination. Problem solved.

For the whole Team Battle he was flying straight to enemy team, dying 9 times in a row - and I mean straight. No cover, nothing. Is it really pilot that should play T4?

This definitely needs to be fixed. The current ship restrictions need to apply to all members of a squad, not just the leader. This will not only prevent squads that have one high-tier pilot and several low-tier pilots from queuing, it will also prevent the instances when a squad member accidentally forgets he has a high-tier ship in his lineup, preventing them from getting into a high-tier game by mistake.

Another fine example: three person squad on enemy team. One King Nibelung, rest - T2s and T1s. Team Battle. Whole squad gathered 11 points.

To anyone that would suggest that low tier ship can turn the tide of battle - Neuron zealot was surviving for exactly 2.6 seconds. And he wasn’t at the bottom of enemy team (got 3 points, the last one had 0).

Lol when it comes to balance, clearly the match is always balanced, you guys should know that by now ;p Obvuiously the Aggressor is not the real one;p

I have only one tier 4 ship, and I never went to PvP. I use it only for PvE and open space, because I know I will be useless in that PvP.
