First off… awesome game ! Wanted to come back to it and as the title says … the High quality option is missing from my graphics menu.
I do remember that i was able to select it in the past, also the game ran flawlessly with high textures selected. I do need to mention that the texture options only give me Medium and Low. Is this a new limitation for 32 bit OS’s ? Is there a way i can bypass this ?
My gfx is R7 260x with 2 gigs of ram from Sapphire, the OC version for that matter… think i can run this software proudly on it…
So i don’t know if this is a bug or a limitation but i want my textures back…
Please advise and thank you !
ps: I did try and mess with the user_config.xml … default the textures were on “1” did set to “0” and the game looked like crap… then set it back to “2” … and there was no visible difference ingame between “1” and “2”

Thank you for the fast reply Space Explorer Beta! Yet i did try that as well with no difference whatsoever in visual quality… The only visual quality difference is between 1 and 0. On 0 obviously the game feels like… .well mashed potatoes … Did try 4 and 5 as well… as a longshot. Same thing.
It seems that anything i do the game will not let me get past Medium textures.

That happened to me too. I have 2 partitions (one at 32 bits and another at 64 bits), first i used to play mostly at 32 bits with textures at high. After some patches textures option only allowed medium or low (untill now) at 32 bits. However when i log in in my 64 bits partition i have the option to set textures on high; i play on it, same performance as before…texture has to do with memory size, pretty sure its GPU memory and NOT ram size. Maybe game limits that considering RAM memory size…we all know 32 bits allows 3,6gb RAM memory size and 64 bits allows much more (so anything under 4gb memory disables high texture option).

Star Conflict only uses only 2GB Ram at highest Settigns so i dont see a poin why high Textures should be disabled

Agreed. As far as i see it this is one GPU intensive game, therefore at 2gb you should have no problem running it on high textures. Yet i only use 32 bits OS’s … that being Win 7SP1 cause of my older cpu/ram. But i do need to stress that it performed flawlessly in the past using High Quality settings.
It’s a shame to be honest … i can see the devs talking about limitations… to reduce ingame lag and some other problems… But let’s be honest here for a minute… This game is NOT a resource hog… That being said… for the few that still use 32 bit OS’s … Please give us back our eye candy
@Koromac thanks bud. And yeah … as i expected that dident work. It seems it’s indeed a 32 bit limitation.
Fact is that i understand the concept behind this. But people should have the right to chose on what settings do they wanna play, depending on their rigs. I mean… i do not know one soul trying to play a game on high or ultra having around 10 to 15 fps just for the pretty lights… In that case you either upgrade or lower your settings.
In this case at least… i am the living proof that this game works flawlessly on High quality settings even on some older system. .that with an mainstream AMD R7 260x.
Now, is there a workaround ? I am not going for 64 bits just for this game… sorry but i wont. Just hope there is a magic registry trick or … anything for that matter…
After that’s done and if for whatever reason it hasn’t worked, try tweaking your in-game settings afterwards.
Thank you as well for trying to help… But i don’t see how that’ll help not having any other video card than my Radeon. Did build this rig myself from scratch, know every inch of it.
So, nope… not a solution. The game is already running on my R7 as default.
My point was that your video card settings could be the source of your problem. FPS drops are what’s happened to me and several other people I know over the last few patches (even a couple weeks prior to 1.2), and the solution I gave you worked for all of us.
