hidden max range values

are there max range values that are not shown? my ion emitters say they have a 5k+ range but they’re definitely not doing damage that far.

They are lasers, the damage by each laser weapon decreases with long range.

I’ll show you what i’m talking about in a moment, although when I ask about something not related to damage and max range, but max range being different from what is listed, and get told “weapons do less damage the closer to their max range you get” makes me think you are an imbecile who works at tech support, so stop it. I know you have to be smarter than that.

it only does it in battle, not in open world, and its quite recent.

There is some kind of bug with implants not working properly or not all the time, maybe that is it.

Try replacing that implant into E2, take screeny from hanagar and go to Invasion - compare new maximum range values AND crit chance on a gun while in invasion as well. Should clear this up

well it’s never done it in open world, only when i click battle. although I have fiddled with the implants to see if it will change.

as far as changing it goes, new range goes down to 4500 or so when I switch off of implant, and in battle its still around 4400 or so. could be lag keeping it from lighting up immediately at 4572 so idk.

going to go into battle without the implant, see if it has been reduced further.

I were not sure what you mean, some guys are also confused because even if you hit your target with Ions at ~ 90% of the max range you deal almost no damage, the screenys shown me what you mean.

Yes, Kostyan is right, that is the only thing that could explain it.

But if i’m right the devs will fix the issue with the next patch (tomorrow)

Yes, but on 5km range you won’t be able to hold your laser on the target, if it’s not a frigate… without A1MA of course, so you deal maybe 5% of the standard dps.

You can do damage beyond your maximum range as shown by the in game HUD and it’s been that way a long time.  I’ve noticed it for weeks at a minimum.  It is not due to a recent patch.  The extra range is small and almost impossible to notice on a moving target but it’s been there.

It’s really noticeable when you have a laser weapon with something like 8000m range. See: Gravi beams, Laser cannons

We need optimal range shown as well. It is about 60-75% range, so on 3000 it is 1800-2250, but I will be way more satisfied if I see exact numbers in hangar.
