Omega100, find an engineer; there is your hull tank. Stick with your engie, protect him with all you can, and your hull will become five hulls if you play right.
But others are right, gunships are fine right now (and yep, a bit OP at times). Just practice, work on builds (I can give you some working builds that will help you be more efficient and effective, just ask). Star Conflict feels like a game of cat and mouse; you have to be aggressive at times (when your modules are up and running) and a complete xxxx at other times (when all of your modules are down). Learning the gameplay balance between these two scenarios is good to learn, and when you get better, you will find that your ship FEELS tankier because you are more experienced.
Get to T3.
Buy the Phobos, and practice getting good with a relatively mediocre gunship.
Buy the Nukem or Desert Eagle (or if you don’t want to spend real money, buy the Federation’s Wolf-M).
Have fun wrecking face.
Also, if you think OTHER gunships are too hard to kill, then take out THEIR engineer, and they will be your puppet.
Gunships are perfectly find how they are. Even the Ion Emitter is fine. It is easier than you think to take down a Spark that is using Ions. If a Spark is running max damage ions (using curved), then taking a ship with greater range is preferable. It is not wise to charge straight at the Spark in an interceptor. If any nerf to the Ions were to come, I’d say only a 10% damage reduction would be necessary, so as not to completely ruin the point of a gunship.
Phobos is possibly the worst ship in all of Star Conflict, and should be avoided like the plague.
All the good Empire Gunships in T3 are locked behind a paywall for reasons I can only guess at.
So then, Devs, can you make the Phobos a bit better for non-premium Empire players? Nukem and DE are way OP compared to this ship, and sure, while it is a R7 ship, it can’t compete in T3…even the Kalah is better.
