Got a new computer :)

They’re talking video cards, not processors. AMD’s main competitor there is nvidea, not intel :stuck_out_tongue:

This made me go nuts, AMD main competitor is Intel as well as Nvidia… Intel is into graphic as well.

What is GPU?

Yeah, integrated graphics. I have that on my laptop. Because I can’t put a video card in there easily. The only way that is possibly “competition” is if you think that people who want workstations would have bought a graphics card otherwise.

The new Intel broadwell cpu released 2 days ago are quite decent on 720p, they perform way better than the AMD apu. The problem is they are overpriced at the point that a lower priced cpu + a discrete gpu will perform better.

some IQ wouldn’t hurt too

just get this all problems solved  :005j:

2x NVIDIA GeForce GTX Titan Z 12 GB of GDDR5 RAM.

1GB GDDR5>4GB DDR3

Yeah, if you want to blow $3000 on an overpriced video card. Yes, the Titan Z is a monster of a graphics card, but it’s way too expensive, even considering the performance.

Nah, Titan X is a lot better and is cheaper, and will perform better with liquid cooling. Use my wishlist instead.

Gotta update this list to Broadwell though - too lazy atm.

EDIT: I’d also rather wait for nVidia’s Pascal architecture to come out imho… Maxwell and 28nm is going to be basically outdated when 16nm hits the market in 2016

Fiji r300 series will be on the market soon (probably), i don’t expect too much but still i want to see what will happen and what HBM memory can do. It should be the “swansong” for 28nm (and maybe AMD…).

Apart that, i saw your wishlist. I love those monitor… dual 1080p and 144hz  the mouse too, it’s under my right hand since almost a year and it’s perfect. I don’t know that keyboard and i wasn’t able to understand what switches it use??? Dude you live in MMurica, there you have a lot of choice about good quality mechanical keyboard why a logitech (just curios). And what’s that “symmetrical power supply” that cost 3500 bucks? O_o

Yeah I’m excited to see what HBM can do too! We’ll see

And I dunno that much about keyboards unfortunately. All I know is that mechanical > everything else. I think these are cherry brown MX? Not sure. Give me a recommendation!

The symmetrical power supply is something that removes noise from an incoming power signal. Basically translates to a much higher SNR when converting the signal to music for output to the HD800 headphones, which results in much clearer/more vibrant music. I’m debating between the Furman on my list or the Shunyata Research one (Audio geeks, help!)

Basically think of it as a really expensive power strip LOL.

Concerning computers, I’m just glad we’re out of this epoch

Yup I just discovered that it have mx - brown, quite the best choice if you came from normal keyboard. Btw if you look for something less “shiny” and more “professional” take a look at Filco (best quality overall but also expensive). Instead if you are looking for something more “chav”-oriented go with Razer.

Btw there’s quite big differences between each type of cherry switch, better if you could “try” the different feeling before you spend your money. some info here

I’ve never seen before that “power strip”, holy sirup… are they made in pure gold? :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, no kidding! LOL

I’ll take a look, thanks for suggestion  According to the article you sent me, I should look at MX brown. I’m currently rocking a nice chiclet keyboard on my ASUS N5 laptop… So 1337

And no haha, they’re made of a careful proprietary blend of alchemical substances, weird metals, and dark sorcery  :004j: Which roughly translates to I have no idea what they’re made of!

One day I’ll have enough money to build myself this system. One day. And it might just beat out Engle’s dinosaur posted above for playing Minecraft at 60fps.
