As for the rest, lion and lion mk 2 are very nice ships in their own ways and they are very tanky, even if the damage lacks a bit for gauss sniping. Sword ae can be OK for gauss but only with a cruise engine and played as a quickly reposition able turret. Its damage is actually OK.
Lion Mk2 is no way tanky. Its actually rather thin as paper. YOu must be supercareful with it and either stay otta range or be fast an agile.

I don’t know which lion Mk2 are you playing, but mine has this configuration:
-
Thermal and kin resistences in hull
-
Adaptive and submatter in shields. For more tanking, fit dual adaptive or EM + Thermal passives in shields.
And really, it is quite tanky.
In fact, Tacklers these days are so good at avoiding damage (as Adam said in the video) that I fly the Rockwell with Zero tank. And still is great.
that was a soundclip stolen from one of Entersprite’s best of the month videos (December I believe, February actually).
Its true, I’m the biggest fan of Entersprite’s videos. Feb for sure. Its hard not to use some of his content. I WISH HE STILL MADE THOSE VIDEO’s - - - you reading this Enterprise. Your video’s are the best make them again !!

If you fly with adaptive/submatter, you already realized the fact you have to be fast with Lion. Sword AE is more tanky and able to “stand around” a bit longer. At the end all tacklers are squishy. Lion has the problem that is must boost both hull and shield, which is not good for tankiness, and is an fed ship with speed bonus, so i would rely either on speed and manovribility or the long range bonus to stay otta trouble.
O nmine i use kin res/engergy boost on hull and twice em res on shield and try to stay otta range. If i make a mistake in distance calculation a good covertops can kill me in one stroke.
If you go on speed Rockwell is your ship of choise, or perhaps the new special ship. If yu fly Rockwell well u can often avoid to be hit at all, as u said.
If your tackler dies too fast, u can think about switching to Gunship, which is generally more tanky and can have similiar playstyle both based on speed (fed) or hull tank (empi).

My rockwell has a top max speed of 422 m/s, I’m not using cruise. I think most of the cruise tacklers range from annoying, to fully useless.
I know some very good players use cruise tacklers very well, but they would be much more useful to their team playing without cruise.

I would never use cruise, not on tackler and not in T5 (in T3 ists possible). U loose too much manoveribility. Better use normal speed increase mods. On Rockwell something around 430 is good and compeltely sufficnient. On Rock I use two verniers and one collision for manoveribility.
I go almost full strafe on my rockwell. I’ve been running 1 intertial stabilizer, 1 tetroxide injector, and 1 Vernier. It works quite well, as the inertial and the tetroxide let me strafe back and forth very quickly, which is nice for gauss. The vernier lets me turn around quickly and get out of hairly situations.
When you compare a tackler to somethine else as far as tank goes, it is not going to be looked at as tanky. However, you can play tacklers in such a way that makes them extremely tanky. The Lion Mk2 with 2x adaptives (or 1 EM, 1 Therm) combined with 1 kinetic, 1 therm on the hull results in a very tanky tackler. Combine that with long-range slows and you have a tanky ship in both survivability relative to other fed tacklers, and a ship that makes it incredibly hard for fast, adaptive ships to get to you. As for the Lion, fit it for bubbles and take advantage of the 3 engine slots. It is extremely maneuverable, and that plays into your survivability heavily, plus it has 3 survivability slots, so it is pretty dang good.

Since when does tetroxide affect strafe acceleration? I must have missed something there

Since never :005j:

my point exactly ^^
It lets you change directions faster forwards and backwards. The inertial helps for the side to side (and the 5-1 implant). I never stated that tetroxide helps with strafe accel., I just mis-worded that.
