I read the background to the game and whilst it was reminiscent of other sci-fi based plot lines I still enjoyed it. However does it or will it have any relevance in-game ?? The discovery of the Precursors in sector 1337 was a nice end point but what does it mean for the game ??
Just wondering if we will be seeing something extra after launch or before - Do folks think that the game back story is relevant and if so what could be added to bring the player base into the background as it were.
Just thinking out loud :)wt
At this moment, the devs are busy about building the game and creating content. But the lore will be expanded for sure. Just don’t expect something as deep as Eve lore or WoW.
Personally, I rather like the theories that pop up out of the fandom.
I like my Empire as a (mostly) benevolent military dictatorship, with the Wardens pulling double duty as both Emperor’s Guard and the secret service, and the Legion being an almost Spartan warrior sub-culture.
I like my Federation as ultra-capitalist rebels who quite literally know the value of Human life - down to the cent in some cases - and have privatised and deregulated everything to the point where the Federal Government had to hire the Dynamis Corporation (care of the Armada, which is a military-orientated corporate syndicate posing as a standing military) to spearhead their endeavours in 1337.
I like my Jericho an insular, highly religious technocracy whose people are bombarded with religious doctrine from birth. For me, the Raid are zealots who believe any moment not spent trying to wipe away the Unenlightened is a moment wasted, while the Techs are the true visionaries and inventors, tempered by secular thinking and a desire (albeit one they sometimes have to keep quiet about) to do away with the religious dogma and doctrine in order to just get on with making Humanity better and bringing us to the Singularity - a point where man and machine become inseparable and indistinguishable.
For me, anything else is a step backward.
Empire benevolent military dictatorship
Can something like that exist even in fiction?

Why not?
A military dictatorship is simply a nation where all political power resides with the military. There isn’t some kind of rule that says dictators have to be cruel to their subjects, or have to change their alignment to Evil.
My vision of the Empire is of a heavily militarised nation. Military service is the fastest way to climb the social and political ladders, and from an early age the citizens are instilled with the idea that the Empire is more important than any of its constituent parts. A “true citizen” should be willing to sacrifice everything, up to and including their lives if needs be, but they do so knowing that the same is true of everyone else within the Empire. The result is a quasi-Socialist structure; as long as you don’t fail the Empire, the Empire won’t fail you.
If the Federation is American Capitalism taken to the absolute extreme, and Jericho is a radical blend of Communism, Socialism and Religious Extremism, then the Empire lies somewhere in between. The Empire is mostly secular, but does not actively stamp out religion unless it’s a cause of social unrest. It does not interfere with commerce and the acquisition of wealth for the most part, yet it steps in when those things don’t serve the greater good. The rich can “do their part” by throwing money around to good causes, whereas the poorer people do their part with hard labour or military service. While all Imperial citizens are technically equal, coming from the right family (such as one with a proud tradition of military officers) will give you a big leg-up in life.
But more than anything, the Empire is about Order. Where Jericho seeks to destroy the Old World and usher in a new age and the Federation just bounce around following the money, the Empire believes it is of the utmost importance to preserve, maintain and continue its culture into the future, unswayed by fickle events and free of fickle, corrupting influences.
Remember, Star Conflict is set on neutral ground where all three factions are going hell-for-leather at each other. It doesn’t really reflect what life is like back home.

They used to be called Kings. Go pillage, plunder, rape, and massacre other countries, and give the loot to your people. Ensure the military snuffs out dissent. If morale’s a little low, throw a celebration.
Governments aren’t defined by their systems of order, but by the people in charge. Communism created Gorbachev as much as democracy created Hitler.
Jasan, I think you’ll be interested in this game. Create your own nation, resolve national issues and set new laws, then watch how your nation grows (or degenerates).
For me, anything else is a step backward.
 That makes the two of us.
I have been messing around on that site for the past 3 years. It has its moments. :)wt
