Frigate Weapons

So, am i the only person who prefers the heavy blasters over the positron in t3 on my 'conda? I know positron is the better gun in terms of dps etc (i think…) but i just prefer the blaster and i do well with it.

 

Sure its slower to turn and not as strong, but it just feels nicer.

 

What do y’all think? Or should i just practice more with the hail/positron??

I  don’t use any gun with restricted turret turn rate, they turn my frigate into a joke in front of a good Inty pilot.

I’m doing well with Beam cannon (Assault lasers) with my Hydra 2 now, and putting Coil Mortar into consideration because it reminds me of my old play style with front line frigates, and close range gun.

I didnt like the mortar tbh, and im a very-team orientated engy - never alone, focusing as much as possible, about 4-5k away, so  ot much turning. interceptors get dealt with in other ways, or just warped away from to try another area. But those 2 guns are really good, but  no-one seems to use the blaster!

Max effect range of healing modules are 3k4 with Mk 3. And it will take a lot of loyal grinding to get those.

Within 3k range, Inties will reach you in a few seconds, I always find covers near objectives, where my teammates can stay within my healing range while fighting.

With mortar range, it’s still possible for you to heal the team, jump out of cover to support fire, and jump back. it also helps you a lot if an Inty tries to get you, unlike other available weapons.

Im in bed, Kine - its 1am. Lol! And i see where mortars could be useful, firing into the path of inties, but a warmed up blaster or a charged hail can do just as much damage, maybe not over the same area. and ive taken down i ties - with a fair amount of luck - using hails before!

With the exception of the assault laser, everything else makes me feel as though I’m drunk or something. (In fact, I pretty much have issues against the entire weapons overhaul, but let’s not go there in this thread.) And the assault laser feels weak somehow.

I do miss my hail plasma tho. feels weird without something old and trusty to fall back on in-between weapons test.

Same. The new hails feel drunk.

Slow barrel weapons on engy are no good. Before you had mines, which allowed you do something against ceptors, now your only defense against ceptor already in close range is… drones? Assault lasers is my choice of weapons for now on Engy. Plasma gun could be more useful on Guard, because you have slowing AOE which somewhat allows you to hit bad ceptors, and pulsar.

 

I have not yet tried the laser with hilariously low dps and the rail weapon with short range.
