Free aiming in Expert mode (combat disadvantage)

I fly with my ship in expert mode, because you can feel better the flight physisc of the ship. It is more exciting than a basic ship control. However sometimes happens to me that some interceptor will attack me from my six and I cant do anything against him unlike the ships with basic flight mode.

The Problem is in Free aiming. In basic mode, if you will enable free aim, the turrets will be able to aim in angle 360° unlike the expert mode. There the crossair will have a very limited aim range (corner of your screen).

It’s a big nonsense to have a turret on your ship and not allow it to turn with it in all range!!!

Especially with a fregate you are very easy target for interceptor. You will never shake him…

I suggest to make possible aiming to all range for the expert mode control, because  the limited aim range on free aim in expert mode is a big combat diadvantage!!!

I also suggest to mount a fixed weapons instead of turrets for interceptors. It would stop  them dodging when firing and a big turrets on their wings looks unesteticaly.

I honestly hope that some game developer will hear my wish :-). (I am surely not the only one about this)

+1

dont know if this helps but in basic mode shooting behind you does 1/4 the damage or if you are using something like coil mortar or eclipse, it will shoot once every 4 shots at full damage. i have never used expert mode so i can’t compare

no.

everything else, yes.

If i was part of the develop team i would have suggested to do so everyone was force to play with expert mode in open space, But i guess they already did and i belive not everyone agree with me. witch is okay everyone have they own opinion.

I really want to fly in expert mode but is just not possible doing to Turning your ships against other players Is a big disadvantage specially in a interceptor which leads to losing a dog fight most of the times.

Takamina uses expert mode, and its really for the crazy pilots that NEED to go fast and really need to have full control of there ships movement.

hes right

there is mounted normal weapons that can turn sideways

but then 50% of them stops shooting if you shot to the left and only one weapon will shot if you fire backwards.

I tried expert once, but it turns my ship back to the plane of the map and thats bad.

But what is the actual difference in controls? Other than no no-turning inner aiming circle and I can’t pull my aiming behind the FoV of the ship’s front.

That’s an option irrespective of the control mode.

Basically you’ll go expert if you steer with the keyboard which gives you more responsive controls so you steer much faster. If you steer with the mouse expert is hindrance instead.

But it only does this when I set it to Expert.

But then how do you aim? Or you toggle free aim on somehow?

It doesn’t for me with the option disabled. /shrug

With the keyboard. You need to set up the keybinds first I believe.

Ah, and if there are keybinds for turning the mouse wont do it? Will have to try.

They work independently of the mouse, but in expert mode your mouse is mainly for aiming so it does not make much of a difference. They also work when mouse steering is disabled though (free aim and lookaround modes)
