Fort Muerto Station (Poll)

There is a mysterious station planted at the heart of the frontier sectors called Fort Muerto. It is inhabited primarily by pirates, mercenaries, and bounty hunters. Though, I find it strange that myself cannot enter said hangar.

I propose that all pilots rank 13+ are allowed to dock at this station. The contracts would not be faction sided, so they would go back to being picked by the pilot who wants to do them.

Pro: easily switch contracts.

Con: only one contract (techs OR raid) can be selected at once.

When undocked, the Pirates there will be passive to you until you either fire upon them or otherwise aggress them. Aggressor and Criminal titles mean pirates are friendly (blue) and will ignore you. Guards and patrols from other stations will immediately aggress to you though, and they replace the “scouts” found on the edges of other stations here. So you had better be careful.

Monocrystal missions will be things like “destroy patrol leader” or “loot a federation cargo ship” or other piratey things like that.

When docked, ships of any rank may be used in any sector. (This explains T2 pirates in T4 sectors.)

There is no station protection in this sector, wether or not you are docked.

Other tweaks are appreciated.

Remove the Karma requirement - just let Fort Muerto be dockable.

 

As it is, the game pushes you toward +Karma, and adding EVEN MORE grind is not fun.

 

If people want to be pirates, docking at the Fort should make them pirates. No grinding karma required.

This is a brilliant idea - there are 3 sides of conflict but none of them are pirate

 

plus, the skymap in muerto is beautiful.

 

If this gets implemented, perhaps there could be an alien station too, i’m sure I’m not alone in wanting to get my hands on the alien ships and wreak utter havoc

I still think that muerto would be by far the best place to xxxx if this was introduced - all the best loot spots either in the system itself, or 1 jump away. If the pirates were friendly on top of that loot farming would just be too easy.

You’re right, they’d have to balance the enemies around Muerto a bit. And the loot around the starter sectors is 99.99999% pointless unless you intent to sleds DAYS of your time farming. I spend most of my time in the frontier sectors anyways. And the fact that newbies can’t just switch in and dock there fixes this. I did say R13+ didn’t i?

Let’s come to a nice compromise and say pirates only side with you while you have first undocked. But leaving the sector and coming back they will try to kill you just like before. Better? :3

I don’t understand where you would gain the loyalty for module upgrades.

 

It wouldn’t make since that you are gaining loyalty for a faction whose shipments you are stealing.

 

Also, the meaning of each faction is to prevent pilots from being pirates.

 

For me it would be go the other way. If you destroy convoys you should be kicked from a faction for a duration of time.

I have t5 premiums, but i’m far from a newbie considering i’m a t4 legit, the t5’s are there for the free respawn

it should be -3karma(coz it’s pirate’s sector) or below and atleast R11(non premium) required to dock

A newbie is a new player. A n00b is someone who acts like a new player long after they should know better.

 

Example:

Newbie - “That Engi keeps killing me with drones! I can’t work out how to beat him!”

N00b - “That Engi keeps killing me with drones! Drones are so OP they auto-hit 100% of the time and you can’t ever destroy them! Engineers need a huge nerf! And my CovOps is way too weak none of the modules do anything! Buff Plasma Arc to 2k range at least!”

“That Engi keeps killing me with drones! I can’t work out how to beat him!”

Turning Fort Muerto into a station is a great idea but every big faction has its own big station; jerries have Mendes IX, feddies have New Eden and empire has Guardian-17. If Fort Muerto turns into that kind of a station, it would be cool to have new faction that uses modified (along with some new) ships of other factions, a faction that has 3 subfactions (Pirates, Cartel, Cybers) each with their own missions (go to Stripped Deposits, kill the family patrol…go to Water Harvest, nuke the generator…etc.) and currency (Cyber, Cartel and Pirate loyalty vouchers for new equipment, guns, etc.). Pirates would remain hostile but they wouldnt attack unless provoked (or if you have some nice cargo to steal). All players would be allowed to dock BUT if your karma is very high (over 5000) you would have greater chance of getting ambushed, hijacked, stripped, killed, lumberjacked, cooked (or worse) by the local pirates and other scumbags. The lower your karma is, pirates would “like” you more, e.g. -5000 karma = friendly pirates.  If something like this happens we would also need more frontier sectors! Aliens would also appear in here, just like with any normal station.

Sorry if I went too far with ideas, consider most of them as possible plans for future development of Fort Muerto as a big station with new faction.
