i would love to play Star Conflict regularly but there is a huge handicap, that would kill epileptics.
When i change the camera perspective, the shadows flicker immensely on surfaces, that should be shadow-free. You can see in the video, that only the lightened entrance has this bug, the rest of the hangar is dark, as it should be.
I changed the ingame-settings and some driver settings, no effect.
There are no warnings or errors in terminal and the game.log only has some warnings like:
“11:03:02.497 WARNING| frame 388 gameGlobals.frameTimeReal is too large (0.641705)”
My specs in short:
-Acer Extensa 5630:
–Intel Core 2 Duo 2GHz
–Ati Mobility Radeon HD 3650
–4GB Ram
-Ubuntu 12.04.4 64bit (freshly installed)
–3.11.0-20-generic
–“radeon” open source driver from repository (the proprietary “fglrx” still dont work with latest X)
Its really hard to play this interesting game with such a visual overload.
Please fix this and i promise, i will buy some ingame-stuff
I get that 12.0* is better than any windows build. That’s why you use it for servers, when it comes to games it is all about what the developers are spending time on to make that game work with. I don’t think Ubuntu is high on that list…
I wont install an older OS or downgrade Xorg/kernel (never again!) to get the proprietary fglrx to work.
I installed ubuntu 14.04 now with of course the radeon drivers and luckily, the bug is not gone but the flickering is only about 25% of what it was under ubuntu 12.04.4.
At least to me, the game is actually playable right now.
I dont think, its such a minor bug and ubuntu is not such a minor OS to ignore it as a game developer.
There are a lot people out there with older ATI cards, that are stuck to the open source radeon drivers and accept the downsides, that come with it.
Id love to hear of someone with similar specs to me, that has or hasnt the same problem(s).
If someone asks for it, i can make a new video of the bug appearance but as AMD taught me, i will accept it as it is and consider this thread as close to dead.
