Facing frequent Connection drop from battles.

As i Reported here,

If you guys have same problem please report here too.

13ms ping, ~600 battles, never dropped unless it’s a server problem where everyone dropped.

eh. you poll is kinda wierd. but i have no connection issues. see very little drops. but my ping is 150+ from US.

This. Even if I have 150-200 ping when playing on US shard (assuming that how it works when majority of squad/team is from US and I’m EU) I never drop from the battle. I have occasionally ships stuck in battle thing for less than 1min when I leave the battle after it ends.

Only disconnects happen when a) there is a server problem and everyone disconnects; b) when my own connection goes bonkers; c) when by GF decides to pull the plug to make me listen to her…

Star Conflict is being very stable game for me - no crashes, no connection drops.

I had a couple the other day, mostly however, everything runs fine.

Only problem is the apparently player-side servers…

Ping could be 20ms or could be 300ms, which is really frickin annoying…

So fun when some idiot with xxxx connections gets to be the host and lags everyone else like xxxx.

I don’t expect game in 2013 uses such dated technology, honestly.

More likely there are shards hosted by services around the globe and game connects us to the game with most active players - which when playing in odd hours for your timezone can throw you to 200+ ping server.

I was in squad with one friend who is EU and had constant 50-ish ping, then we got invited by friends who are US and I had constant 150+ ping in every game when playing with them…

EDIT: I would be interested in some official statement made on server technology used, actually.

i had tested using us vpn and eu vpn both having same issue.

before conn drop there is packet drop.

i am sure this devs are smart enough not to use player hosted server

Then how would you explain the so random pings ranging anywhere from 20 to 300?

as of this post there are more people with same problem with me.can dev respond?

Then how would you explain the so random pings ranging anywhere from 20 to 300?

there are many explanation for this

server lag ,international backbone problems, busy shard vs free shards.

There are several reasons for this issue and the devs will fix this.

thanks error let us know if there anything we can help.

I can confirm this. Server selection algorythm currently is under testing. Players can’t be the hosts.

Source?

How do you explain the random lag and stuff then?

From my experience of player hosted games, I would expect occasional games that have awful lag when you get a terrible host.

As it stands I’ve never seen any noticeable lag, so I don’t think players are the hosts.

To answer your question, though - player hosted games are things of the past, especially in games like Star Conflict not using dedicated servers technology. I’m not sure what kind of tech they are using (I think it might be similar system as Wargaming.net) and as I said it would be interesting to read more detailed description of it - out of curiosity.

Random lag can be caused by many things - like compensation mechanism (when you fight high latency player it tries to even out by reducing amount of packets you receive/send), distance to server, crappy host service and many other things. Try pinging some big server near your location (like local news or government site) and then try to do same thing with similar service across the globe - assuming that you’re EU - try pinging New Zealand or US servers. You’ll notice the difference.

I find this game to be surprisingly and refreshingly smooth given the complexity of calculations for ship to ship combat and the over the top graphics for a PvP game. Bravo, and well done!

I tend to drop when I complete a contract during a battle, almost daily or more. It’s a very quick hiccup and I can usually reconnect in under ten seconds, but it is extremely annoying. If I don’t have any active contracts running I almost never lose my connection.

It’s strange. I’ll do say, coup de grace, which requires you finish an enemy ship with a missile. Game’ll run smooth, then I’ll finish off an enemy with a missile and BAM within 5 seconds, connection lost.

Revenge of the missile target
