[F]long range lasers = rapid fire vertion of devastators?

i found an overchaged long range laser t1 and it has 7920 range so i start looking to build something around them, now looking to the tech tree and modules i notice this:

tier 2 prem module that enhance laser range by 22%!

skill that enhance laser range by 15%!

asuming they stack it would be a 37% increase, 7920 will go to olmost 11k range

is this remotely true?

since we are talking about devastators are there any mods, change that affects them?

olso i would apreciante if anyone has a link to a decent manual for this game, so far i look the wiki and the link the game provide but at most they say a fancy description and if lucky some basic stats of some ships.

It should be true, but remember that there is falloff (I believe) and the further you are, the harder it is to hit enemies, so it’s a fair trade.

No, fortunately there aren’t any mods that affect devastators (you mean desintegrators, right? The empire frigate ship module?).

Remember, the game is still in early open beta, 0.55 for the records, they still have to change a LOT of thing, add a decent tutorial and if someone’s willing to update the wiki, he can do that. Unfortunately I don’t think to be suited for that task, since I’m not experienced enough, but eventually you’ll start to understand more about the game. If you have doubts or questions, post them on the “General Discussion” board, there will be surely someone to answer you :wink:

I already started collecting information for the wiki, but since there are still changes it can happen that the information get outdated very fast so I will wait a little time before I go on posting information on it.

And for the lasers, remember that they are only usefull on long distances and on short range it is easy to doge them.

same could be said of desintegrators (dont know why i call them devastators XD), may be is just me but i find lasers to be easier to land at close range, anyway the problem i see is that one dosent need to sacrifice mobility in order to shoot them and what is more important lasers can be equiped in any ship, i am currently running the overcharged long range laser in my interceptor to see if is viable and so far is not a bad option, it dosent do as much damage as other guns but with olmost 8k range i can troll people and when ever they get close i get away in a blink of an eye using interceptor speed advantage.

From my point of view the damage of the lasers is not enough to kill someone in a dogfight. They are good in support on long range or on shooting down guard drones. Since Alpha I stick to my plasma guns :slight_smile:

well yes but i am talking from the point of view of a sniper, as for the information i am not asking for a full detailed but some basic ingame description take for intance the skill tree there are several skills that have a very confusing take heavy armor as an example.

heavy armor: “increase ressistance to damage by 300-1500%” wow 1500%!!! but what does exacly increase? i dont see any stat displaying ship armor or anything similar.

olso i did find someting akward the engineering skill tree has 2 skill that do the same:

overheating of modules: frigate survival modules are recharged % faster

wall: frigate survival modules are recharged % faster

I know about the future. But I dont think they will fix this skill tree, because there will be a completely new skill tree.

This will be easier for new players and also it will bring more balance.

Assault lasers with +2 range mod + range crystal = 10k range. Thats more epic.

what’s range crystal pls?
