Escort missions almost impossible now

I had one in Vanguard Outpost a while back and I hadn’t had one in a while. I went there and found the ship to escort, got it within about 5000m of the destination gate, when it was suddenly destroyed by a predator/Biomorph squad that spawns right next to the gate.

Really???

Why is there a alien spawn point right next to the convoy travel line???

It’s troublesome, but put on a guard with heavy blasters, travel ahead of the convoy, and destroy groups as they come. you should be able to take down most biomorph groups alone. 

When they’re in larger numbers, take a friend with another guard. if you both use spectre field, it’ll be a little easier to shift a bio group’s fire once one of you weakens.

I do suggest my own guard builds for it, but just about any guard will do. make sure to use lots of anti EM~ at least 80ish alongside the guard’s special module. Use signature masking, and focus on that shield. 

 

Rank 13+ guards are the best bet.

I have a different problem.  I go into the zone and CANNOT find the transport.  At All.  I’ve received this mish twice for open space, I go to the zone, and then I fly around trying to find the bloody transport.

 

Why is the transport not next to a gate?  Why does the transport NOT have some sort of beacon, IFF, Homing signal, etc, that I can lock on to go find it and have a chance of actually performing the mission?

 

It’s very frustrating.  I spent over 20 mins today flying around Imperial Transport Zone, dodging aliens, pirates, and unfriendly turrets looking for this alleged transport and finally threw my hands up in disgust.  I had to go back to my home station, cancel the mish, and get a new one so I could complete the daily.

 

Any useful ideas would be welcome.  But I should state for the record that any suggestion to increase “view range” is to my mind NOT helpful.  See my second sentence.

Imperial Transport Zone? It spawns at the southern end of the map and heads for the eastern gate.

But the point in general is valid. Some of the transports are a nightmare to find.

Ice pits… The transport there is almost always unfindable!

But either way I always systematically cancel escort missions, since they are boring, hard in high danger sectors, and take a lot of time to complete. The same with the “kill a predator” missions.

Last one I had was impossible until I tore through a pack of Hunters and sacrificed a lost child in a Phobos to the pirates so the transport could get by. I get that escort missions should require us to protect our charge, but it’d be nice if the single player mode balanced its difficulty to assume a single ship is doing the sodding mission!

I don’t honestly care if it’s balanced for single players, since that would cut the difficulty by about 75%, but at least balance it so a full squad of good players can do it.

Except why would a full squad be doing a mission that only applies to one member? Invasion is single player, it’s mechanics and mission setup reflect this, so its difficulty should as well.

Except why would a full squad be doing a mission that only applies to one member? Invasion is single player, it’s mechanics and mission setup reflect this, so its difficulty should as well.

Because they’re hella hard right now, and a biomorph nerf of that much all at once would be a bit ridiculous, I was thinking.

 

Then I remembered that they nerfed credit loot value by 90% and all loot by distribution in the same patch, so I’ll agree with you, now.

Even if I made a full crit+RoF build, used pirate orion, max dps implant setup, I still have my doubts that I would manage to kill predators in 15 seconds, considering that it typically takes me several minutes using a supernova plasma gun on an ECM. To be fair, the DPS is a lot larger on the covert ops with the right build, but I still have my doubts.

It takes around 20 secs. You will kill it in the second orion if you hit with all the rockets.

Some predators are weaker than others too. Also the new patch may contain something about changing invasion.
