Hello, I have a little question about the energy use of AB.
I have a Hawk-M with level 6 synergy.
As you can see, my ship has 311 energy pts, regenerates 71 pts/sec. As I have the rank 7 Federation implant, AB only use 62 en/s. As my energy regeneration is better that the AB eneergy use, I should be able to AB all day long.
So I took my Hawk-M to a test room and gave it a try. And yes I can AB indefinitely but there is something that is not working correctly.
Let me explain :
I flew my Hawk-M, went to maximum speed wothout AB, then I pressed shift to AB. My energy began to drop slowly until it stbilized at 185 pts.
If my energy regeneration is higher than the energy used by AB, i should always have my energy at its maximum level. So why is it not the case ?
To put explain it further without finding the picture, your energy regen rate is not constant. It depends on what your current level is. It’s probably a bug that we need to report since the last patch made it visible. It should be “Max energy regen.”
In any case, with that surplus you could still take one half second off of shift and get your active modules back.
as already explained above but here’s the graph anyways. wished it was in English
Y axis = regen multiplier
X axis = % of current energy to capacity
as Snib pointed out, you only get the advertised energy regen when capacitor is 33% full. Different ships attain equilibrium at different levels depending on your regen rate to AB use.
There are a few bugs with afterburner use tho. Had indefinite overdrive speed once with Wolf (or Wolf M) even after it went on cooldown. The buff countdown timer stopped at 0.0 seconds and kept my ship moving max speed. After i released the afterburner the buff finally disappeared. Managed to reproduce it only once since then. Will try again and check for logs (for some reason the second time it happened i was too lazy to do it… silly me - the first time i thought it was lag since the servers were having a vodka party).
