That is simply not true. I’m a bad player, but when playing the Phobos (yes, a r7 ship) i just can’t die while dishing out tons of dps. Much more tanky than a Katana, and much more damage. They are tanky all around and added to that is that they have even more tankyness by the mentioned burst(s, if you count multipurpose, because they can afford to use them).
If your phobos is more tanky than your katana, then you are doing something wrong with the katana setup.
The only reported person on this internet that can kill a interceptor that is bobbing and weaving with a Empire LRF is Kine. He killed me in T2.

That sly dog! lol. Its fun with him around. Makes the game 1000% more interesting. Especially when NASA squads go into “Efficiency bragging rights mode” (aka we have micro contest on who can get the most efficiency points.)
