Empire Gunships with Singularity Cannons

Now I know what you guys are talking about. I just lost a couple matches hard and those pilots using empire gunships with singularity cannons were just too tough to beat. I had nothing in my lineup that could take them on. It was pretty sad actually. I just avoided them and did what I could elsewhere.

Range is your friend. Gunships with singularity need to be close to be reliable. Also, you can force them to use overdrive and then go away (recon cloak, cov op camo)

In fact, I’m more worried about fed gunship with bubbles than empire ones, since the fed gunship can be on top of you in seconds. I love my Wolf M setup with bubbles. So much fun if you play alone, just nonstop afterburning everywhere with the same speed than an empire ceptor.

And btw, good players can be difficult to fight no matter what they are flying.

That’s a good point about using range. I was doing pretty good with one of our dogfights when I was at range and strafing side to side. Might have to try again.

I agree with Eviscerador, fed with bubbles are more scary, also empire with rails.

If you guys could suggest a ship/build that specifically counters these gunships with singularity cannons, what would it be? I’m thinking of filling one of my slots with a ship specifically for these situations. I play a lot during non-peak hours and get a lot of 3v3 and 4v4. In those situations when someone on the opposing team is on a rampage with one of these ships, I need to have something to be able to end their killing spree.

I was thinking of building an empire gunship, putting both EM resist and +% hull, then giving it railguns.

*edit* oh yeah, I guess I should mention that I’m talking about Tier 4.

In a small battle nothing easier than that. Take a cov ops, bait the gunship to overdrive, run away and kill his two friends during those 12 seconds, go back and impale the gunship’s backdoor with your plasma lance and fill the hole you made with shrapnel (if that sounds ambiguous, I’m still under the influence of having read WPK recruitment terminology ).

Fear fed gunships even more, those things are like large interceptors of doom

Things will be easy if you’re in an interceptor

But If you’re talking about a (fighter vs fighter) dogfight, you can only really counter by putting bubblegun on your own ship as well. At close range combat singularity cannon is just too good (and a good gunship build can outmanoeuvre all other fighters under overdrive)

p.s. singularity crits are generally huge. Get armadillo

Tackler with slowing beam has no problem taking 1v1 on bubble gun empire fighters, just keep your distance over 1.5k and he cant hit you, at some point it will blow his combat reboot and multipurpose packs to temporarily gain slow imunity, -thats where you cloak, wait abit, set your playing field again and start over. Another good empire bubble gun killer is empire ECMs that have sufficient energy to run weapon inhibitor non stop. Federation gunships with assaults, ions are good as well. Basicaly as long as you can keep your distance in a fighter.

But what if he has an Engineer close, how are you supposed to kill a tanky Empire Gunship (even with target painter) with that beam?

Was the damage improved or it’s still like in xmas? Didn’t try the weapon.

In a complete 1v1 it would be good indeed.

If there is an Engineer next to him, i sure hope i do have some one to back up my xxxx as well.

Didnt they buff a dmg in one of the patches recently?

No idea (too lazy to check), but yeah it would be a never ending battle.

As I said I didn’t try them yet, but all I got were tickles when anyone used that thing on me. Also frustration because of the slow, but that’s how it should be.

Gravi-beamer does about 85% of the DPS that the ion emitter does. That’s not factoring in the resistance debuff of the ion emitter. Does anybody know how *much* the ion emitter reduces resistances?

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I’ve set this bad boy up to tackle targets as far as 6450 meters away, and the weapon has a range of 4736.

Here’s the ion emitter for comparison:

Ions ignore up to 100 thermal resistance

Holy crap seriously?!That’s insane. How many seconds of sustained fire does it take to reach that point? Also, if I use the target painter, will their resistances go into the negatives?

1.3 seconds of uninterrupted dmg, and yes it stacks on top of a painter

Just 1.3 seconds? And then all of their resistances are reduced by up to 100 points?! O_O And all other teammates shooting at that target are also doing more damage?  :what:

No, the Ion itself ignores the resistance, your allies will only make more damage thanks to the Target Painter.

I had no idea. This entire time I’ve been using the ion emitter as a sort of target painter in and of itself.

It’s ok, now you’ve found it’s true power, so you know what to do  :salute:
