Empire frigate Ship tree

Does anyone else think that the Empire ship tree (Regarding engineering frigates) is a bit messed up?  With the Jericho ship tree you have to play long range frigates to get long range frigates.  With the Empire however, you have to play long range frigates to be able to play the higher level (T3+) engineering frigates as well as long range frigates.

I thought the ship tree changes were meant to change that? Anyone else think this is not right?

Everyone does. But as we move on to higher tiers we forgot to keep complaining

Thanks for the reminder hahaha

No no, it’s perfectly fine

(after finally having finished the grind to the Styx everybody else must suffer like I did, muahahaha… just kidding, the tree sucks, change it)

Hah, it’s just kinda frustrating because I really want a T3 Engi, but I dont want to have to go through 2 LR frigates to get there :stuck_out_tongue:

On a plus note: You’ll get some experience dealing with interceptors spawned specifically to make your life hell. Long Range Frigates get them from the relative safety of your spawn site. Engineers have to deal with them everywhere on the map. And not just interceptors too as Fighters and other Frigates will find you equally tasty.

So take it as Engineer Survival 101 despite functioning differently and having to use unrelated active modules.

Same here lol, what a pain in the xxxx to play lr

Funnily enough, I never wanted to play imperial LRFs (or any LRFs, for that matter), but had no choice if I wanted to unlock the Styx, and then during the (not as tedious as it looks) grind those pesky buggers grew on me somehow. Now, instead of the Styx I regularly fly a Cerberus, trololol.

But personal anecdotes aside, the tree should indeed be changed.

Haha, good for you. If I could rage-delete any ships it would be all empire LRF. Never again. The Cerberus is now sitting there at 6/8, taunting me to elite it, but it’ll certainly never gain a single point of synergy more.

Try PvE, I believe it’s the Hidden Maintenance Shop, dealing with the missile turrets, that a LRF is surprisingly usable.

I’m 3/7 on Iron Harpy.  I tried to get a Styx, I just don’t want to deal with Emp LRF.  I finally brought my Fed engineer into PvP, I had mainly used it for PvE.

Yep I have the Anaconda as well, but the Styx is lightyears ahead even after the nerf in the last patch. Was somewhat worth the grind. The only thing that annoys me with it is the short sensor range.

As to PVE, yeah, ran a few maintenance shops but the LRF is only really usable on the last stage. You get more synergy faster by trolling through T1 Blackwood with them. Twice the synergy in PVP than PVE though.

Thing is, I just really don’t enjoy the playstyle. I never play snipers in other shooters either. They are these classes you can play with a single hand so you have your other hand free for … whatever you want to do with it. :stuck_out_tongue:

I leveled my T1 interceptors in PvE, they’re actually survivable!  Then I got to T2, and kind of dropped off on it.  I don’t want to bring T2 ships to T3/T4 where I get placed, but I don’t really want to play T2 since there at least used to be was a lacking of strategy.  I may try Emp LRF in PvE, just since the game mechanics are different enough.

Tell me about it. I maxed out my Hydra 2.

Merely days before the synergy update I was considering buying the ship, but… NOPE. gotta grind Mr. Cerberus.

I have a Phobos with high synergy, and I’m really wishing there was a future I would like after Phobos.  If they would connect Phobos to that Styx on rank 9, I would like it. I do want an Empire engineer even though I have a rank 9 Anaconda with almost max synergy. I am sure I won’t ever do the Harpy grind to get it.  What I’m saying is: The empire gunship line is disappointing. Connecting it to the Empire engineer line would give people a reason to not regret their time spent with a Phobos.

Frankly, anyone who attains max synergy with the Phobos deserves to have 1,000 GS deposited into their account, and a hand-written apology from the developers. It is the worst ship in the entire game!

I did pretty well with it. Don’t see the problem what is wrong with it, it’s a good ship. There are worse examples, like T2 commands.

With the Jericho ship tree you have to play long range frigates to get long range frigates.

And that was fixed. You used to have to buy all 3 T3 Guards and the Tormentor to get to the Tormentor AE.

The Phobos. A badge of honour I wear proudly. More than the harpies. As consolation - Imperial T5 Gunships are the sexiest in the game. Well worth you troubles.

At first I was wow but I actually like federation now better. They are also faster, which fits my playstyle as well.

(nvm, wrong thread)

Let’s be honest, when those Gunships came out, they had so much gloss, it looked like a mirror in space. It was annoying as all hell. I still prefer the Swords.
