Gunships. They are both tanky and hit like a ton of bricks. for Commands, I still say Jericho are better due to the extra speed/manoeuvrability.

Interesting… i got to lvl up one ship in empire…I already have gunships in federation so was thinking about command to play a diferent role but I always had the feeling that those empire gunships are way better than fed ones…On that kind of ship speed doesn’t look to be a real advantage…
I’m playing mostly empire gunships and recons. I don’t know how the fed ones will fare but every time I face one fed gunship, I can just make mince meat of them while on overdrive.
I haven’t played empire commands until yesterday (bought a fancy new prometheus) but for what I could see, you trade firepower for durability, and you can’t be that aggresive due to the lack of combat reboot and the GTFO capabilities it gives you with the engine overcharge.
Although with everything stock except for the purple ion emitter, the prometheus did nice, with 19k survivability + command modules + the shield. I’m still adapting to the ship, since with the empire gunship, my armor is my firepower, just kill them before they can kill you, and with the prometheus, you can out tank most ships if you do a good energy management.
I miss some speed though… but you can’t have everything.

Gunships are great for swooping in and doing a ton of damage in a short amount of time. They sometimes tend to be solo artists, though. Gunships have the freedom to move quickly around the battle arena and deal stunning burst damage.
Command fighters work best with a squad as backup. They are incredibly tank-like and their Aegis, Coating Polarizer, Valkyrie, and Gravi-Scanner modules can turn the tide of battle in your team’s favor as long as you work together.
So, would you like to be a free-wheeling DPS machine, or would you like to buff your team to victory while also maintaining surprising survivability?

Yes, that is my current problem. I’m used to be the solo player (recon, gunship) but with the command, you need to be where your team is, mostly in the middle of the ceptor furball, boosting the allied ceptors and trying not to die in the process. I’m getting a lot of assists though… but I miss the stopping power of a gunship in overdrive and aiming overcharge.

I find command ships better because they increase the effectiveness of ships around me as well and are practically invincible when surrounded by teammates (at least 1 engineer)
Better stick with federation gunships as they are faster and can easily run away from sticky situations.

It can definitely reach interesting stats with upgraded modules and a sensible setup. And valkyrie isn’t bad for times when you need extra firepower
My prometheus X has around 24k survivability with ~250pts/sec shield regen, above average shield resist, heavy hull, heavy hull resists and i can use afterburner infinitely (implants play important role in these stats)
And this takes me to the other answer…is the empire gunship better than the fed one?..
I mean…i’m flying T4, covop, tackler, guard, all fed ships, and the fed gunship Tiger M is the only one I’m having susrvability troubles with…

I think the problem is they are too squishy. Fast, yeah, but that speed only gives you better positioning. Once the fight starts, you don’t have the edge in maneuverability that a ceptor has against a gunship, and the empire one will rape you.
Anyway, empire gunships are tankier, but they are still quite squishy. Your armor is your range and your firepower. If you are in close combat without overdrive or aiming overcharge against a command or a tackler… that is not gonna end well.
gunships in empire are way more tanky t4 and up, than a fed tackler, so he might not have a problem

Especially in T5. The Aura is like the tanky version of the Lightbringer… at least you can build it that way :)wt

I never got into the T4s…Command (Spartacus) is still better than the Lance S since its more or less immune to Parasitic.
The gunships… I dont know, i actually prefer the Tiger M (more speed, ya know :taunt: )

I like aura too…and long time ago when ship roles don’t even exist i used to use command modules on the fighter
Anyway Zap it would be nice id you or some other expert pilot would open a thread about gunship builds in the guide section…It really looks like i’m not good in finding a viable build for that fed tiger M gunship lol

Bleh, so far: Particle-Purge em all. It oneshots more or less any inty. Use bubbles for the finisher. Make it speedy and you are good to go.

Both are about 450m/s with AB. And about 12k EHP. The Tiger II build is in the last patchnotes.

And yet again, since they changed the ship bonuses, Piranha is not well suited for bubbles anymore, so I think I’ll be switching back to Empire again.

The only reason I have to take Federation are their Guards. Nothing else.

At the end of the story i think i’d go for the command line in the empire…but i’d like to know if anyone experienced some 1vs1 aura vs apollo…? How did it end up? or, if u prefer, how would it end up?

I think for empire gunships lazors are better. Beach balls suite the fed gunship better, since you can get to close combat first due to speed.
