I just got a T3 engineer frigate. I thought it would be able to use an eclipse launcher since I have a T3 upgrade kit for one, but it can’t. Should I invest in leveling up a different T3 weapon or does the eclipse launcher become available on the next rank ship? I only have the vouchers to level up one weapon.
I don’t remember if you unlock it at rank 8 or at rank 9. But definitely at rank 9 you will unlock it.

I think you unlock modules reaching that rank in any ship.
I have to apologize about my lack of knowledge with this rank unlocks, but when they were introduced I had already unlocked everything.

as far as i know you need an r8+ Engie(Styx/Anaconda/Phoenix/Valor)
While you’re waiting, the next best weapon I’d suggest would be the heavy blasters while using using the curved reflector, and it’ll give you decent damage per second even when it’s still only at MK.1
It’s decently good for both pvp and pve.

That’s what I got. 
Beam Cannon is still the best.
Except when there are tough ships and you are not LRF or if you can’t aim with beams XD
